Please I have a question.can I be inside of Canada and apply for express entry.
I wrote celpip and had 8,8,,7,7 but after calculating my score it really drop.am currently in canada pls what can I do to boost my point.

Yes, you can. Getting a job offer that comes with LMIA can boost your score. Also, if you don't have skilled work experience yet, you can also aim for that as it does increase your score too.

CIC exempts country of residence and origin from travel history so it is not compulsory

But if it makes you sleep well as night, go ahead

Odogwucanada:
When filling the travel history section should I include short trips to Nigeria while studying abroad?

Oga, even we at the other side of the divide post-AOR are still shaking with one leg grin until PPR comes nothing is sure, any rejection/refusal is a deep pierce in the heart, recovery will be hard grin But PPR is a given, I'm sure, positive and hopeful

Don't worry, ITA will come soon. You have done your best. Just keep living, no pressure, it will end in praise

All the best to us

boco2126:
Thanks for this! But, lol...I also want to be at the other side of the divide and give people in the pool hope too jare grin I remember when you were also in the dilemma of waiting for ITA and had to go the CBT route to increase your scores. You did, made the next draw and got ITA. We didn't, as we were still on 450 then (since feb actually). Same day of that draw and summoning strength from your bold step, I encouraged the Boo to write IELTS CBT (booked same day the 450 draw and nov 2018 tie breaking rule came out, wrote, waited for results and updated our profile 14th May) and we moved to 460...we were so certain of ITA the next day; 15th May and then FST draw happened from nowhere cry. Then the 4 week hiatus and boom! 470 now. When will it reach 460 again? Or back to the days of 438 and co? We were just shattered and had a heart to heart yesterday (when we both were done sulking on last wednesday's draw) we have decided to take our minds off and not be too expectant. There's really nothing we can do at this point than to WAIT and keep living our lives. No pressure on when we are planning to leave Naija. No deadlines...just LIVING till God's time for us. It will end in praise jare.

Q1. You cannot put refused visas in your travel history. Travel history is for places you have travelled to, as in, places where your visa was approved and you actually took the plane and flew out. Refused visas is for the statutory questions on visa refusal and there, you select, YES.

Q2. It is not compulsory to include visas on your old passport as it is invalid. CIC is only concerned with your current, valid passport. But does the old passport have used visa stamps of the English 5 (UK, US, Aussy, NZ and Canny)? If yes, please include them in your travel history and upload the passport stamps, because if you do not, CIC will find out through the country information sharing, and when they look for the passport stamps and can't find it, it implies omission, which is considered misrepresentation and can incur a 5year ban. If the passport stamps on the old passport do not contain the English 5 and you are very sure Canadian intelligence and CIC won't find out any other way, you can leave them out.

Personally, I have found out full disclosure is a major medicine for sleeping well post-AOR grin, so if I were in your shoes, I would disclose them all

msbaileyz:
Good morning everyone, I have a question about travel history... In a situation where I can’t remember all refused visa dates, what do I do? Plus will I include the visas on my previous passport post ITA?

Yes they have to. Only Canny citizens do not need visas.

@Drhym The only authoritative information you can get on the process is from IRCC themselves. Read more here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2017/03/claiming_asylum_incanadawhathappens.html You can tweet at them and ask them more questions directly. We here cannot know about it since we are using the EE route.

But if you qualify for EE, why not try it, it is a more straightforward and less cumbersome process than that. Many Nigerians who go through the refugee route end up getting very frustrated and worse off until they get their status (if they ever get it, most get deported) because they underestimate the terrible conditions they will live in and the repetitive legal procedures involved in the process. The bureacracy takes years to consider your case, the process will drain you mentally, traumatize you and you would lose so much in time especially in comparison with your fellow countrymen living legally. I know this because I see it clearly around me and have interacted with some and I can tell you it's not worth it.

Besides, Nigeria is not a priority for asylum seeking considerations. Like how do you convince a visa officer that you deserve asylum from the same country that has seen the exodus of highly qualified, rich, middle-class professionals bringing thousands of dollars to the VO's country. I was once in a migration training on refugee law in Sweden with a UK VO and he said there are certain countries which would have a 99% failure rate in refugee and asylum seeking and he specifically mentioned Nigeria. These VOs are not stupid, they know what's up. Leave that route for citizens of war-torn countries and real sufferers of persecutions who really need it.

Yes. Read here https://www.nairaland.com/4472519/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/214#68056810

And more on CIMA here https://www.nairaland.com/4472519/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/217#68075553
Vicolak:
Thanks @hayoakins. This is sort of a relief, but please do we have anyone in the house who has evaluated CIMA (exempted or not), what's the equivalent?

grin That is if IELTS is the only barrier to ITA o. If IELTS is passed and the person is just starting ECA with a body like IQAS, to book medicals will be suicidal, he will grow bear bear tire grin with all due respect to IQAS hopefuls, not mocking o, only stating well-known facts grin grin

Richness1104:
You can book when your faith feels like booking. Just joking, please book when you pass IELTS and the cost is 35,000 for adult and 27,000 per child. You can call them up ahead to book and you can always move the appointment forward to a later date if you ain’t ready to go in for medicals

Yes you can use the work experience. That is NOC 6314. The title does not matter, only the JD. Check here to see if your JD matches http://noc.esdc.gc.ca/English/NOC/QuickSearch.aspx?ver=16&val65=6314

Or post your JD here, Boss @Topsmamen will handle the rest grin grin

Yes you can use the masters

Yes you can use the reference letter before or after they close business. What matters is that the company existed at the time you are claiming experience and that you actually worked there

Deluvtj247:
Hi guys,
I have 3 years work experience as Customer service(supervisor) from 2015 till 2018. I obtained my masters degree in 2018 while working with Zenith Bank PLC. Please, can I claim points for my previous experience as a Customer service supervisor? Also, will I be able to use my masters degree for the EE since I got it after my 3 years experience? Lastly, the company I worked no longer exist in my state, can I use a reference letter dated just before they closed business in 2018? I would really appreciate your response becasue I don't want to make any mistake. Tnx

This is not a problem. No worries

jerich:

this got me looking at my application again and document submitted .
now I realised my name where not in sequence in all the documents .IE

passport :surname.. Ayo first name.. joy middle name ... Jane(Ayo joy Jane)

but some of my other document like ,

reference letter started with first name , middle name ,then surname (Joy Jane Ayo)

ECA got it all mixed ,surname middle name and last name (Ayo Jane joy) and ,2nd ECA only 2 names
( Ayo joy )

no wrong spelling only just not properly arranged and omission of middle name in one of my ECA . should I worry ?

Good morning nairalanders.

Please, permit me to ask an abstract question,......pls, how does one deal with a mum who is skeptical about her single daughter leaving Nigeria to Canada.
On grounds that the said daughter is not married, and needs to get married in Nigeria first, because she may not find a good Nigerian man to settle with in Canada and she is getting older (even when the daughter in question has no current relationship that could lead to marriage).
And the mum also thinks that life abroad is not as easy as Nigerians think it is, coupled with the financial requirements for the express entry been expensive.

Pls, for those who have idea of these things, or are in Canada, how easy is it to find a bearing, and start life, career and otherwise, especially for a single lady who knows no one in Canny, except a cousin to her friend, who she has never met.
What are your opinions?
The lady has already began the process, ECA in progress, and IELTS soon.
