biochemist and med doctor are same only a slight difference.
med doctor operates on patience while biochemist prescribes drug and research |

AlacrityVictor:Who told you all that Biochemistry of just 4years and just one department with just a few courses to take Oh God! Even some PhD holders in Biochemistry can't match MBBS or Pharm.D holders in terms of knowledge! Stop hyping that course! I'm a graduate of Biochemistry with magna cum laude (2-1). I graduated with a good result from the course but honestly, I was so much deficient in Knowledge at the time I finished school despite my grades. Now, I'm doing a second degree in pharmacy and I must sincerely let you know that the knowledge I'm getting now (even that of biochemistry) is faaaar greater than what I got during my Bsc Biochemistry Even the way that course is taught in many Nigerian universities leave a lot people with little or no knowledge upon graduation. Stop being lazy and pick up another JAMB form to try your luck again, who knows, you might be lucky this time to gain admission into medicine or pharmacy! |

AlacrityVictor:Lol....is that what you think Perhaps because of the circular pertaining to payment of house officers/ interns How naive of you! For your information, some of us never hoped on internship payments for anything! If anything, not paying interns is even an advantage because it will reduce the pressure they are being put through in our teaching hospitals. Going to work for them will now be once in a while and even at work, they won't be doing much work unlike what used to be the case. They'll now have much time to explore other sources of income for the one-year period. Even when house officers don't get paid for the one-year period, they're still far more better than you in terms of KNOWLEDGE, job opportunities (home and abroad), prestige etc, so stop making it appear like the circular could put you at the same level with them. |

Before We Get Started to Argue whose Better , let's See the Scope of Medicine and Biochemistry. Biochemistry Biochemistry is a The Study Of Processes that Occur in Living Systems, Be It Plant, Animal, Microbes, Cultured tissues. Biochemistry was Formally Known as Physiological Chemistry, But now it's Evolved Beyond that as Now, Components Such as biotechnology, Microbiology, Biophysics, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering as Now being Added to Make it Biological Chemistry. Now a Biochemist Uses The Knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics to Understand How life Processes Works. Many Biochemist Exists as Laboratory Scientists, Forensic Scientist, Biomedical engineers , Genetic Engineers, biotechnologist, Pharmacologist. Now Medicine Medicine is a Vast Scope that used Biomedical and Medical Knowledge in the Approach of Diagnosing and Treating diseases. And people who Have this Knowledge are Called Medical Professionals (Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacist). Medicine Has Components Of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Pathology (Clinical Biochemistry, AnatomicoHistopathology), Haematology, Immunology, and then Medicine and Surgery How does Biochemistry and Medicine Relate Medicine and Biochemistry are different Scopes but both Influences One Another. To be A Doctor, Pharmacist or Nurse You have to Know How the Normal Metabolic Machinery of the Human Body and How it Works (Biochemistry), and Also the Clinical Part of it (Clinical Biochemistry aka Chemical Pathology) without it You Can't Know Medicine, Neither Will You Know How Drugs Work or Even How to Use them. As Biochemistry is The Essentiality Of Medicine. So Which Is Better ? Answer None Is Better Than Another Further Proof In as Much as Medicine is Prestigious and Saves Lives as Seen, The foundation of that Knowledge and Drugs Used Is The Work of Biochemistry. Biochemist are Not as Prestigious as Doctors On Public opinion as Lots Of Ordinary People Don't Know who Or What a Biochemist is . That is to be Expected of a Course that Has Less Interaction with People, I mean a Banker Is even more prestigious on Public Opinion because of the Ability to Serve people Directly. This Doesn't mean Medicine is Better , No Everyone Respect a Doctor Because they Know what He Can Do, but People Care Less of Biochemist because they Don't know what they can Do. I mean A Biochemist Can Design a Despicable Biological Weapon that Can Kill More than a Doctor Will save in his Entire Career. Biochemist Uses their Knowledge In Genetic Engineering, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Pharmacology, Clinical Pathology, Nutrition, Food Processing, Chemical Industries, Environmental Bioremediation, Disease research , Data Science, Agriculture. Biochemistry is Much Broader than Medicine in Application, But as Undergraduate Study is smaller than Medicine. In Nigeria, as a 3rd World Country has No Facility and Research Centre to Make Biochemistry a Course Worth Pursuing. Already the Course is meant to be a First World Ivy league institute Program. But Because of Medicine which Nigeria manages to have Facilities for , the Associated Programs that Make up these Professional Courses Had to be Created. Now these Institutions, are Now using these programs as A Dumping Program to Where People Who Couldn't get Professional Degrees in Medical Fields And these Institutions Had No Facilities to make Them Worth Studying, as a standard Nigerian University Have Laboratory Equipment that Equals that Of a Secondary School in The USA, with Chemicals and Specimens that are Old and Bad. To be Frank Biochemistry Needs More Technology than Medicine as Research Institutes is More Expensive than Health Care Systems. But Hey, Is it Advisable to Study Biochemistry over Medicine ?. If You're a Research and Inquisitive oriented Person, Biochemistry is the Best Choice. As You will Have the ability to Solve Questions on Scientific matters, Discover new Drugs, Improve Crop Genes to Yield Better Agricultural Output. But if You're people Oriented to Health, then Medicine is the Best Choice. P.S : But this is Not Applicable to 3rd World Countries. But If You Have Studied it Or Studying it, do these 1. Apply for Master's degree and Specialize in Hot Fields Of Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering or Industrial Biochemistry. Because that's where the Money is. 2. Apply Direct entry for medical Course |
