Welcome back!...I knew you wouldn't have time to even scratch! FrankNetter:The above is something soooo lacking in our society.... we just open our mouths and swallow whatever ... no need for tongue or teeth! Following. |

Hadampson:...we all keep claiming home training This home training thing is why many of us do not have our own stand but instead have to base all our idealogies on what we hear from church and parents and can't think on our own. Regarding what the girl did in class, I agree she went overboard but she's been taught to think for herself, and not just follow blindly. Just like following our religious leaders anyhow without asking questions. We need to train the kids and give them home training, but give them the ability to ask questions and not just gulp anything they're told |

Olalekank:lol!...A number of things I want to assume that the so-called Nigerian home training has done is that it has made most Nigerians to dwell and grow up with chronic corruption, lies and lawlessness. |

Hadampson:I would like to know what is meant by home training?....is it basically do as you're told.... no questions asked... keep your thoughts to yourself/contrary views to yourself? If yes...or something like that... then the best home trained people in the world are North Koreans. When we begin to question authority is when we will see those in authority doing the right thing and the country progressing. |

Hadampson:That is NOT home training but foolishness it is what NiggerArea called home training that has ruined youths to the extent that they cannot challenge /question /deal ruthlessly with those in authority that has ruined their country.. Assuming most Nigerians were trained as western (American) folks the likes of Buhari, Atiku, Tinubu, OkoroAwusa, those useless Randy lecturers in our tertiary institutions, the wicked bosses in the corporate space and the list goes on will ALL be in trouble imagine a lecturer deliberately failing ALL students in a typical class with Americans what will follow would astonish the lecturer or a boss tell you to your face that he will NOT pay you your entitlements That boss will be out of business because the bad press; boycott and further consequence that follows will be too much for him Nigerians better DITCH that mentality ASAP what is home training really is to teach your child to be RESPECTFUL to all and HAVE MANNERS and conduct themselves properly outside and at home DasAll |

Ugosample:That is not what i mean. As in, how can she said that to her instructor? It's understandable they are debating on a topic but that's very bad of her to call everybody stupid including her instructor. It shows she doesn't have morals at all. Like she want them to accept her opinion concerning the topic... It's not by force. We all agree to disagree boss |

Hadampson:Ok.... so.what is home home training? Pretend you're in Franknetter's Philosophy class and home training is the topic.... is no sir all you would have to say? ... nothing to back up your opinion? Do you realize you are supporting the statement by not expressing your disagreement?....unlike the Mexican girl? Do you realize if in Frank's class.... she would have passing grade and you failing grades? So let us have your opinion on what is home training. |
| Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by Hadampson(m): 11:17am On Jun 05, 2019 |
Originalsly:According to me, home training is the set of instructions children receive at home on basic politeness, courtesy, respect and good behaviour. Honestly, i can't believe you guys are asking me the meaning of home training. A child is born selfish, egoistic, foolish and without manners. Somebody has to train the child to know how to live in a social environment. If somehow the child misses such instruction, he goes about carelessly (but unknowingly) behaving shamefully in relationship with others. This continues into his or her adulthood. The child would have issues with his or her boss at work or his or her lecturer at school due to deficiency in home training. That Hispanic girl lacks home training( or maybe oyibo home training is different) Courtesy demand you respond in a reasonable manner to anybody whether young or old. Using the word stupid for all of them is very inappropriate. I still stand on it ![]() |

I know why my momma left you cos ya crazy man, a teenage boy told his father in one of the nickelodeon series ![]() Can African boy say that to his parents, nO That is home training @Ugosample @Originalsly @Olalekank An average oyibo can call his father crazy man, don't be silly mom etc All these are not acceptable at all in a sane society. Not all oyibo lack home training, i have met some Americans who told me home training is big for her. Like she can spank the child if he or she do anything bad Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it’. |

Hadampson:hmnm you don't seem to get my point... you be my nwanne so I no go troll you ![]() just go back to my post and read that part I said about "respect" and "manners" what we call "home training" back in Nigeria is Fvckery |
| Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by Olalekank(m): 12:34pm On Jun 05, 2019 |
Hadampson: Olalekank:Please look at what I said in bold I'm not saying we shouldn't train our kids, finding the balance between making sure they have the right morals and being able to question things is what I'm talking about. Many of our home training revolves around not being able to say anything and just do anything you're told. Ask one question and you'd get the beating of your life. Is it home training of "Kike, pick up the phone and tell your aunty that I am sleeping" where the child cannot ask questions but just do as she's told that you want? Biko make we no derail there |

FrankNetter:This is what I will call unbiased educational system. Nigerian lecturers will intensionally refuse to give a student the grade he/she deserves. There's a lecturer in my dept, he made a statement I will never forget, he said "none of his student can have a B in his course, the highest he can give a student is C" just imagine!!!. Immediately at that moment the urge to leave this God forsaken country increased. |
| Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by Beautyaddy: 2:39pm On Jun 05, 2019 |
Clefayomide:And the sad thing is that with that threat that the lecturer made even when he gets reported to the head of his department nothing will be done to hold him accountable. |
| Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by Originalsly: 4:20pm On Jun 05, 2019 |
Hadampson:The last is what you need to always take into consideration. You are "home trained" to live in harmony in your community. You may considered yourself very well home trained.... but your actions in another society may not go down well. This Mexican girl is in the American society.... she may not be courteous... but they speak their mind and that is normal... if you don't... they say you need to speak up. In the local society speaking up is being rude... disrespectful... shows you were not home trained. One of the things that may surprise you.... is the emphasis placed on saying please...excuse me... and thank you. I hold the door open for you.... thank you better be loud coming out of your mouth on walking through... or I'll be highly enraged and if I'm armed...hmmmm.....let me shut up! |

| Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by Originalsly: 7:23am On Jun 06, 2019 |
Clefayomide:This is an example of you the students being home trained. What did you as a group of university students do about it?...absolutely nothing.... because you are trained not to question authority.... he is the sub dean.... so it's useless challenging him...... you can't win. Frank is in a university of his choice.... and we hail the system in the US... but do you know that was a right that had to be fought for?...by the Akatas? If they were home trained Frank would not be sharing this with us. Sub dean or not... he made that statement... as university students... you should be the frontrunners of change.... pressure should be put to get him removed.... ... even if he is not.... a message would be sent to lecturers.... e careful of what you say... and what you do.... or we'll be coming for you. Only then you will see a change to lecturers being professional. |
| Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by Clefayomide: 12:59pm On Jun 06, 2019 |
Originalsly:Lol that's not being home trained, it's more like a default behavioral setting in every African (Nigerian) kid due to how the system works here. I like the part where u said it will be useless challenging him, cos I can't win.. challenging him is more like me sending an assassin to kill me. I spoke with a more young and reasonable lecturer abt the sub-dean's statement, and what he said was even more shocking, he said the system has also failed him as a lecturer, he made reference to the time he was undergoing his PhD program, about the evil he experienced In the hands of his senior lecturer's. Its sad to know the system has failed us all |
