LAST ASSIGNMENT … 12
Ein Kerem, Jerusalem.

She was crying profusely. He tried to touch her left arm in a way that communicated his genuine concern, but she twitched. ‘’I am sorry to disturb you. Please, I don’t mean to hurt you, I was just tr…….."

‘’I am one of the survivors of holocaust. Auschwitz-Birkenau contamination camp.’’ She paused for some seconds and continued. ‘’I saw the only man I loved gassed to death.’’ She cut in, sobbing.

‘’What happened to your left arm? Will you like to tell me about it?’’ When she didn’t reply after a couple of minute, he spoke as though apologizing ‘’I am sorry, I don’t mean to hurt you, I don’t mean to remind you of your painful past if you don’t want to…"

‘’ I don't want to remember the things that happened. I have chosen to forget many, but I will say some of the horrible experiences I went through.’’

Her face changed to that of a child whose favourite doll was snatched. Shallow streams of tears ran down her oblong face.

‘’The pain was unbearable, before admission into the camp we were assigned a number that was tattooed on our left arm.’’

She rolled up her sleeve to show him. It revealed 28599. It was as though stamped on her skin. Something like caked blood glued to her body. She took a deep breath and continued.

‘’We were fed with food that would only keep us breathing.’’

Due to malnutrition, and the hell I went through in that camp. I lost my menstrual cycle and consequently lost my faith in God. Hilter is a pig, devil gave him that Master Race idea.’’ She paused to blow her nose before she continued.

‘’Those SS are merciless.’’

‘’Sorry, SS?’’ He cut in.

‘’Schutzstaffel, those were the idiots Hitler used to punish us in the camp.’’ She waited for him to ask more questions if he had, but when he didn’t she continued.

‘’I saw trailer loads of people turned into smoke in 45 minutes, I saw my loved ones, my love gassed to death, my fiancé was gassed because he showed slight sign of sickness. I saw many starved to death. I…I….I don’t want to talk about it anymore.’’

She buried her head in the confidence his broad chest radiated as he consoled her.

"You still have a future, God allowed you to survive for a reason, behead your past. You can still make something out of your life.’’

That was the first dose. Her subsequent visits ended in motivational classes. The faith she had lost in love and God. She found it back in him. He became her hope, something she can trust for a future.

In the last week of his stay in Jerusalem. After cleaning his room it surprised him to hear her say ‘’I want to follow to you Nigeria.’’ He smiled. ‘’ Stay here my dear, there is hope for you here, I believe you will make it.’’

She held his hands and said ‘’you are the one feeding me with that hope for that future. There are lot of memories haunting me here I want to run from away from them."

Plans were made, by the time he was returning to Nigeria. He came with a better heart and became a heart-throb.

With her hope for life fully restored, she pledged her future and that of her seeds to fighting terrorism. There is no better definition of terror than what Hitler did to those 6 million Jew sacrificed at the Holocaust.

The commitment to that pledge brought Sharon to the Akure. She was willing to give her all to stop that fanatic who want to blow up the PPP’s secretariat.

Precious knew the next guy in line. She had worked with Hassan Ahmed on few operations. One of them was defusing a bomb planted at the Kaduna State House of Assembly three days before Salah celebration in 2013.

Work made their path crossed, all precious had to do with him revolved around ops, nothing more. She gave him a professional handshake, and a thin smile as she welcome him into the safe house.

The last guy, Biodun Sadare, was intimate with Precious. They had walked together on many occasions. The Fifth Directorate had difficulty choosing him for that operation, because he felt something more than work was beginning to creep in between them.

But he had no one who could replace him, so he picked him, but privately told Sharon to spy on him and precious.

As he entered the safe house, Precious ran into his hands. ‘’When will you stop coming after me’’ Precious asked looking into his eyes, his hands were around her waist.

He wanted to say "When you agree to marry me", but he decided against it "when we stop having operations to do together." He replied. ‘’Get away joor’’ she playfully poked his chest and slipped out of his grip.

They settled in comfortably and decided to take a rest, but planned to converge later at 12:00 AM, to come up with a plan to stop that fanatic walking to the PPP’s building.

During the World War II. America’s theme of participation was ‘victory at lowest possible cost’. That policy by Franklin Delano Roosevelt made America at the conclusion of the war the most powerful nation in the world.

Russia lost half of her productive capacity, and nearly 20 million people to the war. To those four DSS agents sitting in the safe house at Akure, it was victory at all cost, victory at any cost.

At 12:00 AM they started talking about how to stop that fanatic. They sat at a polished round table that looked like dining table for four.

To Precious right hand was swarthy Biodun, known to have soft spot for fair ladies but praised for his attention to details. He knew all operation he had ever gone for, what happened, how they happened, and the number of life lost.

So detailed, that he goes over any operation tactics not less than three times after it must have been perfected. In his area of operation, any slight mistake could lead you to grave. Your mistake will be a lesson for those coming after you on how not be behave when you on operation.

The pointed jaw Hassan. His jaw formed something similar to the tip of a chisel when he smiled, but better than that, he had the talent to make accurate decision on the spur-of-the-moment. He was not a master strategist but if you gave him correct information he would tell you the right thing to do.

Sharon was to Biodun’s right. She was chosen because of her ability to snipe, trained by a Nigeria sniper called Sodik, nicknamed Boko Haram doctor. The best sniper Nigeria ever had. He was a terror to the Boko Haram sect, a torn in their hardened flesh. Sodik killed more key members of the Boko Haram sect than the Nigeria Army. Most of the sect members killed by the Army were disposable ones.

****

When they were set, Precious let out a sigh as she said. ‘’Guys, how do we go about this?’’
Re: Last Assignment by Adekunleppen400: 9:35pm On Jun 19, 2019
Biodun raised his hands, clamped it to form a hollow, placed his head in, and said.

‘’Oh that’s simple, from what you told us, Alagbaka is a place with tall buildings, thanks be to the gods, the PPP secretariat is a duplex."

‘’En en’’ Precious asked as she folded her hands across her chest.

‘’We need get into one of the buildings opposite the PPP secretariat.’’ He paused and turned to Sharon. Biodun loved things around him to be lively. For him, no dull moment. ‘’Hey tart, you are a sniper.’’

Hassan Interjected, ‘that is absurd, mind your diction.’’
‘’Ohh, am sorry blonde.’’ He said jokingly and continued ‘’we get into one of those buildings opposite the secretariat, bring a sniper, wait for the terrorist to show up. When he does, shoot off his head. Simple.”

Precious spoke up in a way that showed that she was getting close to being angry. ‘’See, we are not here to play, please say something serious. Do you expect the terrorist to vocalize his intentions?’’

‘’Eeeeee, one of the lessons you were taught at the DSS training camp was how to spot a terrorist. No matter how a terrorist disguise, there will still be some tell-tale indicators showing who he is.’’ He replied with a grin.
Precious turned to Sharon ‘’what do you agree?’’

Sharon nodded to show her approval, but she looked at Biodun with I-have-not-forgiven–you countenance, then turned to Precious as she said “I think it okay, but we need to work out more details, generally the idea is good.’’

She turned to Hassan ‘’your view?’’

‘’His idea is okay, if we do it in a way that won’t draw any attention.’’

Precious stood up as she said. ‘’Okay, we can go. Let come back by 5:00 AM to perfect the plan.’’

They stood and retracted into their rooms, not to sleep, but to think about how to make the plan work.

Re: Last Assignment by Adekunleppen400: 9:29pm On Jul 13, 2019
The 5:00 AM meeting was shorter than expected. Critical details of the meeting were sent to the Fifth Directorate. One of it was Sharon request for the newly acquired Mc Millian Bros TAC - 50 also known as the Big Mac.

The Big Mac was a gift from the American President Tom Adams to the president of Nigeria Gbadamosi Olawale when he paid his American counterpart an official visit at the Whitehouse. He gave it to show America's interest in helping Nigeria cub the Book Haram menace.

In 2002, a Canadian Sniper killed a Taliban terrorist in Helmand Province Afghanistan from Canada. The distance was said to be 2430 miles. The bullet was believed to be in air for an estimated 4 seconds. The rifle given to President Gbadamosi was the American version of the "Big Mac." Sharon requested for it because as much as possible she wanted the terrorist dead before getting near the PPP secretariat.

****************

As Ondo State Gubernatorial election was getting closer, the atmosphere was getting tensed with the euphoria of the election. Precious predicted the attack could happen on any of the 8 days left.

Less than 24 hours their requests were met. The place from which the operation was to be carried out was ready.

A room on the third floor of the building adjacent the PPP secretariat, whose window was overlooking the secretariat. It was gotten under a false name, and as said in the agreement, it would be used as a branch office for a legal firm.

7:00 AM the next day, the agents left safe house at 30 minutes interval, and took different direction to their destination. By the time they met in room to be used for operation, their appearance had change from what it was when they left the safe house.

Preparation started at 12:00 noon. It took 6 hours to complete the set up. All was in place for a 12 hours surveillance. It was a terrorist threat, it is more likely to occur during the day. Two agents were added to cover the night hours, but the daytime surveillance was higher given priority.

5 days to the election, 4:30 AM in the morning. Precious was singing Simi's song Jamb Question as she prepared for shift "Ma bi ni jamb question, I no be dundy, I no be fool i no be fool. Ma bi mi ni jamb question…no. You see your style is just not cool….not cool. Ma bi mi ni jamb question. I no be dundy. I no be fool…i no be fool. I will pay you no attention. To ba bi ni jamb question o........." her phone rang - which was strange.

She picked the call, but didn't hear what the person was saying. The call ended. 30 seconds later. She received a text message. "You killed my man. You are dead."
Re: Last Assignment by Adekunleppen400: 4:46pm On Jul 22, 2019
GRA AKURE.

PRECIOUS DID NOT bother to trace the call. She knew the person who could have done that. Had she not encountered the assassin days earlier, she wouldn't have known.

The Caller did his job well. If the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) tried to trace the call, it would all be nothing. The call was made from the slums of Oje Area in Ibadan. The phone he used was stolen the day before from a woman selling palm oil.

Before he made the call, he placed layers of cotton wool around the mouthpiece and wrapped it with handkerchief. With that voice analysis can't help identify his voice.

Having completed his call. He switched off the phone and removed its battery. He took a bus going to Gate, and alighted in front of the Wema Bank at Gate leaving the battery behind in the bus. He took a motorcycle to Iwo-Road but alighted some distance short of his destination. He completed the journey on his foot.

On getting to his destination - the Car Park opposite Wema Bank Iwo Road, Ibadan. He waited for some time, and threw the phone into a truck packed at the car parked before he took a Hummer bus going to Abuja. The time was 6:30 AM.

Attention to details is the difference between the professional assassin and the amateur - he wasn't ready to make any costly mistake. The Caller alighted at Owo under the pretence of forgetting something important at Ibadan. He slipped into a nearby bush and came out transformed. He took a cab back to Akure, ready to begin the second phase of his assignment.

************
The Fifth Directorate told Precious to stay out of the game. For her to receive such threat she had been identified and someone was after her. The leadership of the team fell on Biodun's shoulders.

96 hours surveillance had been done. No one with the intention of blowing the PPA had showed up. Biodun was almost calling the Fifth Directorate to tell him the call might have been a false alarm but he knew he dare not do.

On entering the DSS, 3 main virtues were installed into your system. Patience, silence and anonymity. You can never be successful as an agent without these virtues. It helped Biodun to handle the pressure he faced during operations.

24 hours to the election, at exactly 2:00PM. A man with the attributes of whom they had been looking for was walking towards to PPP Secretariat.
Re: Last Assignment by Adekunleppen400: 10:22pm On Jul 31, 2019
ALAGBAKA, AKURE.

WE HAVE MANY TELLTALE INDICATORS that can be used to identify a suicide bomber. Some of them are involuntary movement of lips as he recites his final prayer, face appear unnaturally pale, and beard are sometimes shaved in preparation for the holy mission. The man walking towards the PPP secretariat had these features.

As Sharon saw him, she turned to Biodun and said "we have got our man, permission to shoot."

"Wait." Biodun replied silently. "We have to be sure you are not taking down the wrong man." He paused, looked at the man closely and continued “this kind of mistake can cost you your career."

Sharon spoke with confidence. “I am more than sure he is the one."

"Wait." Biodun said again. Taking his time to study the man. He looked more dignified than a suicide bomber.
The terrorist had done his homework.

As against the conventional bulky lose clothing known with terrorist, he was in a slightly oversized 3 - piece suit. That made him look like someone in the banking or legal field.

Had Biodun known that beneath that suit was an explosive suit loaded with rat poisons and shrapnel - something known with the Hamas bombers - he would not have given Sharon's opinion a second thought.

Sharon was one of the very few DSS operatives that had killed terrorists before they had opportunity to unleash their terror. She decided to give Biodun 30 seconds, if he didn't decide what to do she will shoot the man down.

During the 9/11 attack the United Airline Flight 175 struck the South Tower at 9:30 AM. The bomber had his instruction to detonate the bomb at 2:30PM, but his lack of respect for time and instruction was to delay the bomb explosion by 7 minutes. He checked his time it was 2:07 PM. He decided to detonate the bomb at 2:10 PM.

The tiny wire leading to the bomb’s switch was on the terrorist left wrist. All he had to was to pull the wire and they did will be done.

Without Biodun's approval, Sharon planted two bullet into the lower portion of the man's skull. His body twitch as life was sipping out of him. But, he pulled the wire before he landed on the floor, still able to do his last assignment before he was torn into pieces.

***********

Many heard a sound like a crack of thunder, others saw a blinding flash of white light but few would be able to tell about it. He didn't get to his destination but did what was expected of him.
Re: Last Assignment by Adekunleppen400: 8:14pm On Aug 03, 2019
FUTA AREA, AKURE

The young handsome Caller was sitting in a cushioned chair in his overtly spacious Living Room. He blew a cloud of smoke and looked through it at what was happening on the Samsung Plasma Television suspended on the brown wall before him. It was tuned to NTA Akure. The image formed appeared foggy but that did not matter. He paid more attention to what was being said.

The corners of his lips drew inward as he heard "...the Secretariat of the PPP has just been bombed and..." He saw a place that was once the PPP Secretariat eloped by raging balls of fire. That was the first part of the plan. A part that had nothing to do with his part.

He made a bitter face as he drank what was left of the Regal Dry Gin that was in the Flute cup he was holding. The silent liquid burned as it rippled down his throat. His right hand held a well-oiled and cleaned shortened-barrel .44 magnum Smith and Wesson. He would have loaded it but that was one thing he never did - keeping a loaded gun at home. You might be the victim if it fell into wrong hands.

He needed patience for the next phase of his plan, and that was a virtue he had in excess. He closed his eyes and went over the detail of his next move making sure it was perfect. He had been warned about the dexterity of his next target.

If he made any mistake he won't be alive to correct it. But the Caller was better than average in his chosen field, he won't have survived the slums of Balboa, Panama - where he was trained, if he wasn't an expert at what he does.

He let out an accomplished sigh as he went over the plan for the fifth and final time. If all went as he planned within the next few months Precious will be laying in her grave with maggots licking her tongues.

*************

Dead bodies were scattered like torn pieces of paper around the secretariat. All roads leading to the bomb scene were blocked. The Ondo State Emergency Medical Services Agency (ODEMSA) got to the scene before other rescue agency, hence did most medical work. Special anti-bomb Squad of the Nigerian Police were taking evidences that could led to the group behind the attack.

When the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Muritala Alihu, got to the bomb scene what he said made headline of major newspapers the following day "Baghdad visited Akure".

Survivors were either sent to Federal Medical Center, Owo or State Specialist Hospital based on their degree of injuries they sustained.

The PPP National leadership saw an opportunity to turn the game against Action Party, but Gov. Oke Emmanuel understood the ploy, he gave an emotional speech that drove the final nail into People Political Party's coffin.

ALAGBAKA, AKURE.

The shock from the blast threw them against the wall at the opposite end of the room. They laid helpless in their fortitude. Life was gradually sipping out of them, both fighting to hold on to the weak breath that kept them in the land of the living.

Precious placed a call to the Fifth Directorate and told him what was happening. The operation was an "off the book" op. He knew the death of those agents meant the death of his 20-year-old career. He got men to move the Biodun and Sharon out of the room and took Precious from the Safe House.

The dying agents were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Center Owo. He got them transferred to National Hospital. Independence Avenue, Phase 2, Abuja as their condition improved. He believed his men were exposed at the FMC Owo.

DSS HEADQUARTERS

ASO DRIVE, ABUJA, FCT.

Covet operations are usually classified. Details are only known to those who needed to know. Intelligence operatives in America know that running Ops on America soil is completely forbidden. The information or person the Op will lead to didn't matter- you just don't try it.

America didn't colonize Nigeria but she has a weighty influence on our system of governance, and other ways we do things. The DSS runs it operations like the CIA, the same rule applies – no covet operation on Nigeria’s soil. The Fifth Directorate had broken the rule but he had his tracks well covered.

Precious sat before him in his sound proof office at the top floor of the Yellow House - DSS headquarter. Most of the things discussed there are of highest classification.

"I am sorry I failed you sir." Precious said in a low voice trying to avoid his gaze.

A thin smile broke on his lips as he said. "The only problem I have with you is, you are always too hard on yourself.

"Sir I could have stopped that idiot if you allowed me."

"Sharon did her best." His face was without expression. He paused then continued. "That Op is closed, there are other things to talk about."

"What that sir?" Unable to hide her curiosity.

"I want you out of the game for a while."

"Why sir, what have I d...?"

He cut in. "Someone is after your life. He is a Pro. He got Gloria shot."

There was shock on her face. “I am pro too, maybe far better. Who is he? Let me...?"

The Fifth Directorate made a face that told her she was pushing too far.

"Have you seen why you can't do the job? Your
emotions will lead you into make fatal error."

"Where are you sending me to?"

"You will know when the plans are concluded."
