African Independent Television (AIT) is back on air after the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) suspended its license over alleged failure to abide by broadcasting code.

The development comes after a federal high court in Abuja nullified the suspension of the license of DAAR Communications.

The Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Ishaq Modibbo Kawu had on the 6th of June announced the shutdown of AIT and Raypower FM.

He said the action was taken due to the failure of the broadcasting stations to abide by broadcasting code.

AIT must abide by the rules and regulations if it truly want to function again in Nigeria. Nigeria is not ripe to have political party media house like USA and other developed countries but caution must be adopted by our media houses to avoid broadcasting anything that will jeopardize the unity and fragile security of Nigeria

Good to hear that the government agent obeys the court order this time.
The upturned suspension of AIT licence couldn't have been because of the documentary. I do not think there is anything inflammatory about it as all facts mentioned are already in the public domain.

Good day for democracy and freedom of speech.

But honestly, the problem with Nigeria is that we are misusuing freedom of speech to spread hateful and infflamatory speech.

Let AIT begin to take measures to counter hate speech. And not just AIT....every media house. You don't have to report every violent comment Miyetti Allah, MASSOB, OPC ,Arewa forum, etc...make. You can ignore them.

We must not go through another repeat of events past.
