Stumbled upon this Bible verse and i've been thinking about it since yesterday;
Luke16:9:"AND I SAY UNTO YOU,MAKE TO YOURSELVES FRIENDS OF MAMMON OF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS,THAT WHEN YE FAIL,THEY MAY RECEIVE YOU INTO EVERLASTING HABITATIONS"
Can someone please explain what Jesus is trying to say there

Please ask the holy spirit to throw more light to it for you. Also, try reading the whole chapter over again to know why and what event that came about.

King James - from verse 8 - 9
[8] And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
[9] And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

that is it all Holy Spirit and don't isolate Bible verses when reading the meaning might have occurred earlier on or might come at the later end.

That statement preceeds a parable.

It simply means that you should use your wealth to help people so that when it finishes, those people you helped would help you to stand back.

Nice one. Even the bible calls the simple in heart "FOOLS". Which means God loves smart and wise people but in the right and truthful way.

the more reason a friend of mine calls pastors manipulators (claiming they work on people's psyche) leaving off unsuspecting individual.
though men of God might be psychic but the genuine ones derived their power from Jesus. if you ain't wise enough how you recruit souls for Christ?
that particular Bible verse is what are experiencing in Nigeria today, the Christians giving the children of mammon using every advantage for themselves showing to us they are wiser.

Op, thanks for reading the scriptures. To your question, in that verse our Lord Jesus Christ was telling us that in whatever position we are, we should extend the hand of love to others. In this particular verse the steward is an unrighteous type, through which he showed what can be called compassion to others though he got the resources in a crude way. Lord Jesus now said doing this will make such fellow to have a soft landing if anything went wrong with him. Recent example can be seen in the of outgone senate president, saraki, who just donated his severance allowance to leah sharibu's family and others despite all the atrocities in the 8th senate. See how he is being hailed now.
