Yemi Osinbajo: 3 Lagos Road Projects He's Passionate About & The Contractors by AutoJoshNG: 2:42pm On Jun 10, 2019 |
Though of Ogun State ancestry, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is a “Lagos boy” through and through. He was born and raised in Lagos state. There, he rose to become the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during the administration of Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In 2015, Yemi Osibanjo was elected Vice President of Nigeria. As the Vice President, he has severally demonstrated a passion for the development of Nigeria’s commercial capital - Lagos state His determination for the progress of Lagos state has been particularly evident in projects designed for the rehabilitation of roads and transport infrastructure in Lagos state. The indefatigable Yemi Osibanjo has made himself ever available to intervene in matters that affect Lagos tate. He understands that the progress of this key state impacts on the nation as a whole. When fully rehabilitated, some of these roads and transport projects will, in no small measure, leapfrog the economy of Lagos state to a new vista of economic advancement. Here, we highlight some road construction and reconstruction projects that the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has facilitated, and the contractors awarded the contracts to execute the projects. Apapa-Wharf Road For years, the Apapa-Wharf Road in Apapa, Lagos, was in a chronic state of disrepair. The road was notorious for traffic gridlock at the Apapa axis. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo chaired the presidential task force with the responsibility of restoring sanity to Apapa roads. On June 17, 2017, the Federal Government signed a N4.34 billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with some stakeholders for the reconstruction of the Apapa-Wharf Road. The Apapa-Wharf road reconstruction project was supervised by the Ministry of Works and Housing and funded by the Dangote Group Ltd, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc. On September 2018, the reconstruction work on the Apapa-Wharf Concrete Road was completed. The contract for the reconstruction of the Apapa-Wharf road was awarded to the indigenous firm, AG Dangote Construction Company Ltd. Airport-Road, Mafoluku Airport Road, Mafoluku, Lagos is a principal gateway into the country. It offers first-time visitors the first impression of the country. Sadly, for decades, Airport Road – a Federal Road - has been in the most uncomplimentary condition. Over the years, successive Federal Governments neglected this very crucial road. The road and environ begged for intervention However, in the spirit of the regeneration and urbanization of Lagos state by the Ambode-led administration, the Lagos state government opted to reconstruct the road and bring it to a dignified standard. The proposal to the Federal Government by the Ambode government was initially met with some resistance. However, VP Osibanjo prevailed on the situation. On May 2017, with facilitation by Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, the federal government finally gave the approval for the Lagos State government to commence a total reconstruction of the road. The project saw the transformation of the road from 4 lanes to 10 lanes from Oshodi to the International Airport. It would also feature an interchange and flyover that would drop commuters at the Airport. It is unknown how much would the Lagos state government will invoice the Federal Government for the project. The project, though commissioned, is currently at its terminal stage. The reconstruction contract of the Airport road was awarded to indigenous construction company - Hitech Construction Company Limited. The Apapa Roads (Apapa-Mile-2-Oshodi-Oworo-Toll Gate) The Apapa-Oshodi Expressway is an economically-crucial road. It leads to the Apapa and Tincan Island ports. It also connects Trans West Africa Coastal Highway as well as Murtala Mohammed International Airport. Due to ageing, the expressway (especially the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway axis) had virtually collapsed from the damaging effects of heavy axle load vehicles carrying goods to and from the ports. On Wednesday 31, July 2018, the Federal Government approved a contract for the complete reconstruction of this expressway. The project will span the roads from Creek Road, Liverpool Road, Marine Beach all the way to Mile 2, Oshodi, Oworonshoki, to the Lagos end of the Toll Gate on the Ibadan Expressway. The reconstruction contract was awarded to Dangote Group. The contract was signed on September 12, 2017. In exchange, the Federal Government will grant Dangote Group a ten-year tax holiday. The amount approved for the construction project is N72.9billion. The reconstruction work is being carried out by Hitech Construction Company. Nice one. I think Osinbajo ranks as Nigeria's most active VP ever. If Buhari's military government was democratically elected, perhaps that record would have gone to Idiagbon. For clean tokunbo cars, check my profile. life is beautiful Some people are here swearing and hating with all their heart, and the man only intensifies his good works...He doesn’t even know you exist, you’re just part of STATISTICS_ and he still means well for you... Most people cannot properly manage a family, or choir group, compound even their own very selfs... But will still criticize a man doing well governing a COUNTRY! 3 Likes |

AutoJoshNG: Please stop repeating the highlighted misinformation... It's NOT a tax holiday, but a tax CREDIT (offset against audited tax liability) over 3 years (not 10 years). For clarification sake, this contract is a PPP under Executive Order No. 07 of 2019 which provides that private infrastructure providers shall be able to offset actual audited tax liabilities accrued over any 3-year period within the 10-year lifespan of the Executive Order (which expires in 2029) by taking a credit against such tax liabilities, up to the contract amount involved in each of the covered projects There are presently 6 companies availing themselves of the tax credit provided under Executive Order No. 7. (in addition to the Dangote Group, the others are Lafarge Africa Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, Nigeria LNG Limited, and China Road and Bridge Corporation Nigeria Ltd.) by financing the construction of 19 federal road projects in 11 states across each of the six geopolitical zones. > 5 Likes |

Since you and your mediocre ancestors were dumped here on earth, has your generation of nonentities managed to produce a single SAN? Osinbajo is an SAN, his brother is an SAN. His wife's grandfather is an SAN. Your father is fighting for Tradermoni and you're here disgracing your ancestors and advertising your eternal stupidity. 13 Likes 1 Share |
