Teary eye is a sign of Coryza

Some, up to 10 wit some having tears in thr eyes. U can literally hear tht one breath b4 it died. Another 4 died today. Post mortem said lasota and micoplasma. I hv given them Gentylo , Coxstop, tylodox, Five-anticocci, viroxin. They r 5 weeks 4days. I gave them gumboro at 14th day and lasota at 18th day bcz I started seeing green, but thy started dying and continued pooping green and a friend came and gave them I/O lasota. Pls Gurus in d house, Oga Emma, Turks etc, I came to my farm this morning and saw one of my birds like this....pls wat kina sickness could b this?? Thy hv been on ginger, garlic and papper mixed in thr vitamin (Vitamix) fr 2days now b4 this. I occasionally give them moringa and bitter leaf grounded and mixed in thr water

I started noticing this same thing with my birds, one went blind, and others started having swollen eyes with green or brown poo, first started with black charcoal like poo. This started immediately i started letting them out of their cage.

I had stopped the ginger, garlic mixture before this time. When i saw that the eyes issue and green poo continued, i gave them ampilox in their water, i dropped little of the powder in the mouth of the blind one, and by evening i was amazed at the result. Open eyes and was eating and flying. Other others with teary eyes too a good.

This is the first time am buying DOC, and mennn, i don't think i will go for them again. Have only lost those two i mentioned in my earlier posts don't eat plus one that stick feel on. I never knew I can raise DOC with low mortality, i thought i loose like 60% cos that has been my mentality. But all thanks to this thread founder and all contributors. Who knows, tomorrow one might want to go commercial.

They will be 5 weeks tomorrow. Brought out my scale and about 70% are weighing 1kg plus. From tomorrow I'll start giving them ugu mixed with vit c in their water to serve as multivitamin. I dont know of a good vet store around me to buy good multivitamins for them i would have done that, when they had leg issue i wasted money on one calcium from a feed seller, i was using it and their condition was worsening until i bought Dr Meyer calcium for them. So i had better buy ugu for them than waste money on less capacity drugd from feed sellers.

Just that, if you don't pay attention to them they easily fall ill and if you dont get the right drugs on time, they die. Just too fragile.

Get vitacox and administer. For urgent administration, use 4 pepper, onion/garlic and pawpaw/bitter leaf mixture in drinker before getting drugs in the morning.

Olga Emma please how are these organic items being used.do I grind all of them together or just wash and drop them inside the drinkers with clean water.
Re: ... by shehufaruq: 10:26pm On Jun 05, 2019

Please EMMACHILE can I contact you for guidelines? I've been following this thread diligently and I think I've acquired much knowledge.
I'm a newbie and want to venture into both broilers and layers at a small scale as I'm new into it.

If you’re not ready to get you hands dirty and your clothes soiled, don’t go herbal/organic.

So many farmers have gotten it wrong all because they want to go organic thereby branding a particular hatchery or distributor as bad.

Too much Drugs or herbal concoction stunts the growth of birds. Everything should be in moderation.

Your bird is as good as what it eats. Always remember this.

Basic requirements of Poultry birds:

Good & quality chicks/Poults (We supply)
Dry litter
Adequate ventilation
Good lighting
Good/Balanced nutrition
Cool Clean water
1% drug.

With the above said, stick to the above and you’ll hardly ever go wrong. If you have issues with your flock, don’t be quick to administer drugs. It should be your last resort.

Fix the underlying issue/s first before eventually administering drugs else the problem with recur.

Re: ... by Turks: 2:04am On Jun 15, 2019
My advice? Always give calcium from day one as sometimes, these commercial feeds are calcium deficient. They have to be augmented for.
Lalakas:
Some of my birds can't walk, they sit to eat. I have being giving them calcium.

Seeing small improvement. Any recommendations?

They seem to be having bigger legs. They sit to eat most of the time

Broilers too have wahala. If na cockerel no issue

Very correct bro. That herbal stuff is really killing farmers.

Keep up the good work. I know you were kicked out of one group for saying the hard truth on herbal farming.
