Agreed, it is a crime against the State and the State owe the duty to prosecute the case, but she is the only witness to this crime and the State need her on their during the trial and not on the side of the other parties.

Do you know if the families of those kids may have hired or sent some men to rough up the family of the victim in order to put pressure on her to withdraw her statement against those guys?

The sensible thing to do is for the judge to instruct the security personnel to offer her and her families 'witness protection'...that's what is obtainable in saner societies!
