A yet-to-be identified 12-year-old girl was killed, yesterday, as the Redeemed Church road, Okpanam, Delta State, was sacked by flood after a downpour.

The girl was said to have unknowingly stepped into an open drain filled with flood waters and got swept away. Her body was later retrieved after the flood subsided.

government needs to enforce law not by generating revenue through fines buy by imposing community services-cleaning etc. If you commit traffic or environmental offences, you will be arrested to do community services in respect of your status. If you cannot, pay someone to do do it while you will be supervising the work. imposing fine is encouraging corruption.

The government failed to enforce the law against illegal structures built where proper drainage should be constructed. You don't expect citizens to enforce laws.

There is a drainage and building plan for every state and town... This shouldn't happen in a village, least of all a state capital. Okowa is another failure in a long line of PDP failures.
