Am an F1 visa student whose school is in Missouri. I have few questions to ask pls

1. My school is in Missouri but I already booked a flight to JFK from Lagos. Hope it wnt cause an issue, flights to JFK(215k airmaroc) were cheaper than flights to STL in missouri( about 600k on delta). I also intend to stay in New York for a few days with a mentor before going to missouri.

2. Also I know have already booked the airmaroc flight but is their services okay or at least moderate?

3. What is the range of amt of money I can bring in as a student .. am thinking of holding around 1k to 1.5k

4. Please what's the cheapest way to get to Missouri from newyork? Bus, flight, or train?

5. Any suggestion of a nice place to visit while in new your for a few days. .. my birthday would be two days after arrival

6. Also what are the likely questions I could be asked at the POE and should I bring a bank statement along. ?

Same issue here. I'm also flying with Air Maroc to New York. I'm going to Florida State University for my PhD. I intend to stay in New York with a friend for 2/3 days. He's also a PhD student there.

I intend to go with Bus or Train (cheaper than flights). House hope all these arrangements won't raise issues.

Bus and train can never be cheaper than plane for a trip from New York to Florida (By bus is more than 19hrs) . I will advise you to re-check your trip.

Sir, I need your help here. I'll love to fly if I find something cheap. I'm going to Tallahassee in Florida. From my searches on flights so far, the prices have been beyond my pocket compared to what I found from Bus (Greyhound) and Train (Amtrak)

Yes except for Chicago, Michigan and some northern states.

Bros if you can pay for Qatar Airways please do because my female colleague who flew with Air Maroc warned me seriously against it. She said Air Maroc is the worst flight she has ever flown in. One way tickets are usually more expensive ,book a two way ticket.
Raise which issue? There is nothing suspicious about your travel iternary. Wish you all the best. When you get to Florida don't forget to visit World Disney World, Universal Studios, Orlando Eye, Gator Land, Lego land etc . Even if you are going for your studies still find time to relax. Remember the saying," All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"

As a student u need a one way ticket but if your study is less than a year then round trip ticket is required...

Hello everyone,

Been looking for this thread for some hours now to share my POE experience. Once a story is not on the first page of the travel section... to find it na wahala.

So I bought my ticket towards the end of last month. Bought it directly from the Emirates website using a combination of miles and card.

P.S. after flying an airline y'all need to go register your trip to earn miles... this is irrespective of whether you bought it from an agent or directly from the website. The miles earned from my last trips cut this ticket by almost 50k.

Just thought to put this out there.

Back to it, so I flew Emirates from LOS - DXB- IAH. Emirates is an amazing airline....super super amazing.

CBP: passport please.
Me: I gave him.
He now separated my two passport.
CbP: do you have any valid Visa on this. He raised my old passport.
Me: No.
CbP: Then you don't need this.
Me: *rolls eyes*
CBP: business or pleasure
ME: vacation
CbP: where are you going to be staying
ME: with family in ******. I started getting out my phone to give him the exact address.
CBP: place your four right fingers....took my picture
CbP: how long are u staying
Me: about 3 weeks I'm leaving on ........
Cbp: how much do you have.
Me: .......dollars
CbP: do you have fresh meat and food.
Me: NO! But I have dry fish and dry veg and ......
CBP: Hands me back my passport.

I went to collect my bag and off I went. No secondary check.

Lessons learnt
Even if your layover exceeds 8hrs, Emirates will not provide accommodation for you if there was the option of a flight with a shorter connection layover.

That's how I spent 10hrs inside DXB eating and shopping because I was toooo eager to get out of Lagos to start my vacation.

I left on the 12.05pm flight which had over 10hrs layover instead of waiting for the 6.10pm flight which had about 4hrs.

Anyways I don become DXB expert...I know every nick and cranny of the place.

I used Turkish airline to Houston and I was not asked for the card I used; however, some airlines ask.
