I doubt if this is true. We all know how tomatoe sellers ply their trade. The fruit is in the open for any buyer to touch. They'll be easily caught. Besides if you calculate the cost of paint required to paint a whole bag, the effort invested & the price of whatever that is painted, I am sure you'll agree there will be no significant profit.
