This is a scam. My friend has a masters degree in Geography and Regional Planning, he has been trying to get a job for sometime. Last year July, he was invited in a federal polytechnic where he had submitted his CV for about 6 months. One of the federal polytechnics in the east. When he got there he was given a letter of appointment as Lecturer III without interview. He was so surprised that the appointment was backdated to January 2018. Three of them were given the surprise appointment. He shew me the letter and I told him to be careful as they might just want to use them for accreditation. He said they reported to the HOD and were asked to stay in HOD office. One week after he called me to inform me that NBTE accreditation team had arrived and I reminded him I said it. They were busy doing accreditation things for a whole week. After that week, they were invited to registrar office where they were asked to photocopy their letter of appointment and fill some forms which include supplying their account details. The original letters of appointment were later withdrawn from them and asked to go till they'll get in touch with them later. The following day they got alert of 25k in their accounts and have been expecting the institution to call them since last year. No such thing has happened. He has written three letters of reminder without response. The worst scenario is that the institution has recruited lecturers recently and three new lecturers were employed into the department that scammed my friend. My guy is of the opinion that we don't make noise about it to see whether they can still consider him for employment. He said an assistant registrar in the school told him that only the politicians who are the governing board members brought all the new workers that were appointed recently. I have asked him to write the chairman of the governing board but he didn't get any reply. Please, what can he do, he has the photocopy of their appointment letter with him. Can he sue the institution to court?

Nigeria! And some people think things will get better. Nigeria is beyond redemption.

One of my bosses (now late) from Edo state will say, "person wey dey ground no dey fear to fall."

Your friend has lost the job already. What is he still afraid off? He should take them up.

He didn't have a job ab-initio. Let him go to any of the human right lawyers to seek legal help. I don't think he can win though!

I disagree. He has a very good case, especially if he can provide the initial offer letter.

He should seek advice from lawyers and probably take them to court, with that employment letter as evidence, I think he has a case, though I am not a lawyer, but I hate nonsense!

This is scam of the century
