Patty Jenkins took the best parts of the first film and built on it in the sequel

Makes sense why she brought Steve Trevor back.

I don't want to give much away but according to some plot details I heard yesterday...Pesdro Paschal plays a rich Lex Luthor type of character, he is somehow responsible for Cheetah's creation and when his experiment gets out of hand, he seeks Wonder Woman's help...and in exchange to sweeten the deal ...he told her he could bring back Steve Trevor.
