Hi nairalanders,

Please i did this year UTME and had 265 but I'm confused on which course to study between medical lab science and pharmacy, i picked Uniben

P. S I'm not really a lover of maths

Mods please help me move this to frontpage

If you want to work with government go for MLS...
Pharmacy is also good though.

Both courses are useless, at least in Nigeria..

Pharmacy, most of them end up as sales rep in pharmaceutical stores.

Med lab, most them end up in roadside laboratories.

Why don't you just try medicine, only thing you gat to do is study hard, I mean very hard, for the postume..

Well, its not a bad score as i t were..
But u really need to go for something that really drives ur passion. I don't think any of those courses will have you do maths till you finish.
Make your decisions based on your preferred choice..
You cannot do without calculations in pharmacy school BTW..thou its basically not pure mathematics.
Pharmacy is a good shot!

I dont really support number 3 . I think there are more mls than there are pharmacist bkus almost every federal, state and some private schools now offer mls compared to the few pharmacy schools we have in Nigeria...I think there are more medlab scientists than pharmacist in Nigeria today

get your record right they are more pharmacist than med.lab.scientist in Nigeria

In addition to that, PCN also introduced a compulsory exam known as post internship exam such that after internship one is expected to pass the exam before original license will be issued.

you have 265 as jamb score and thinking of going for pharmacy of medlab, to me you should be thinking of your chances of admission between the two courses because uniben is a destiny changer.............you might end up with agric or one department in life science or won't be given admission at all

That is not truth that MLS find internship difficult to get replacement is due to the fact that is not All the health facility approved for MLS to do internship unlike Pharmacist that do their evrywhere

You will offer maths in Pharm and MLS.
Just research about both courses.i am tempted to tell you to choose MLS but just make your choice.
About gaining admission,i think those in UNIBEN would help you with that.

Unlike Pharmacist that do their internship anywhere we Lab Scientists are stricted to only teaching Hospital some Specialist Hospital and Federal Hospital

I'm a graduate of MLS, chemical pathology option. And I've friends in the sister's dept pharmacy. The fear of mathematics shouldn't scare you any course at all. There are calculations in both MLS and pharmacy. We even offered Biophysics, bioengineering and little of analytical chemistry. See, so far you can read and you're smart you'll pass. You'll be taught before exams nah.
