Nigeria is set to begin the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, in a relatively easy group of lifem
Nigerians are delighted with the opponents the Super Eagles will lock horns against by tipping Group B to be a walk in the park.
Gernot Rohr's men have been paired against Guinea and two debutants
Madagascar and Burundi. They will begin their campaign in Alexandria against the east African nation on June 22 before taking on Paul Put's side and the Barea on June 26 and 30 respectively.

Ahead of their opening game some nigerian are already speaking of their expectation

If Nigeria should get less than 9points in the first round of AFCON...

There's a good chance they won't make the semis..

That group is the easiest of all #AFCON2019Draw

Group B

- Nigeria
- Guinea
- Madagascar
- Burundi

Honestly, if the Super Eagles can't get all 9 points in this group, we've got no business winning the 2019 AFCON. #Afcon2019Draw

Something tells me @NGSuperEagles will do just well at the @Caf_Online AFCON. I hope that thing is right. A decent group for #Nigeria though.

Coach Gernot Rohr on AFCON draw-
“Group B will be tough. Guinea , Madagascar and Burundi are decent sides so we have to prepare well. We plan to play build up games vs Ghana(in Nigeria), and maybe Senegal. See whining..

AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS
Burundi Profile

NIGERIA V BURUNDI
Alongside Madagascar, Les Hirondelles are making their debut at the Afcon finals, with players like Berahino and Bigirimana championing their cause
Coach Oliver Niyungeko believes Burundi have has much of a chance of success as every other team at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Niyungeko's side will make their debut at the Afcon finals in Egypt after they finished second from Group C of the qualifiers, ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Gabon.
They have been drawn into Group B with seasoned campaigners Nigeria, Guinea and fellow debutants Madagascar.

On June 22, they start their campaign
with a clash against the Super Eagles in Ismailia and the gaffer is buoyant about his side's prospects at the competition.
“As much as we can celebrate, we can’t do it forever. The qualification is now behind our backs and the work has officially begun for us. We have to work hard to prepare and work hard to do well in the tournament,” Niyungeko told the Caf website.

“My target is to ensure we do our best. We are not here to show weakness or participate. We are here to compete and show that our qualification was no fluke. There are 24 teams and each has an equal chance and we are also part of that with an equal chance.
“It is possible to reach any target we set and I believe in my players and that we can work hard and do well in this tournament,
“It is a very tough group because apart from Madagascar; Nigeria and Guinea are teams who have experience playing in this competition. We will do our best, take a match at a time and represent Burundi in the best way we can."
Despite scoring only a goal each during the qualification phase, Saido Berahino and Gael Bigirmana earned high praises from Niyungeko.

Stoke City forward Berahino switched allegiance from England to represent his country of birth, while Bigirmana - after run-ins with Rwanda and England U20 - switched to Burundi in 2015.
“We have many players turning out in other African countries and in Asia but the two had a very big influence in the team. When they came in, they gave a lot of motivation to the other players showing them that anything is possible and football can indeed change someone’s life," Niyungeko continued.
“They influenced the players in a positive way and it made my work easier as a coach. They want their teammates to follow in their paths and told them that qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations would put their careers in a good place.
“It was such joy for me and my players and the entire country to earn this qualification and be in Egypt for the first time.
"We worked so hard for it and after getting a positive result in the first match, we knew that it was a possibility for us to qualify."

Nigeria's group hmmmm........ ,

Though a lot of Nigerians would see this group and comfort themselves, but as for me I do have my reservations about this team.

If you carefully watch through the qualifiers, apart from the libya game at home which we played well, we struggled with most of our qualifiers. Against the South Africans team home and away we struggled. Wait !!! hold on before you cut my throat.

I know you are talking about the dissallowed goals in SA, but take your time and see that match again, we struggled to keep possession the south Africans were always on the offensive throughout the duration of that match.

Libya away......

Apart from the two quick goals we scored, the Nigerian team were playing like a group of school boys selected to go out there and do "anywhere belly face" The libyans were constantly running at our defence it started when that change was made at the 31st minute by the libyan coach and it continued till the second half. what helped us that day was the experience of odion which gave us last goal.

As for me anyway am just gonna enjoy this tournament and supportthe best team

Nigeria profile

The Nigeria national football team, also known as the Super Eagles, represents Nigeria in international association football and is controlled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). They are three-time Africa Cup of Nations winners, with their recent title in 2013, after defeating Burkina Faso in the final.

In 1984 and 1988, Nigeria reached the Cup of Nations final, losing both times to Cameroon. Three of the five African titles won by Cameroon have been won by defeating Nigeria. Missing out to Cameroon on many occasions has created an intense rivalry between both nations. Three notable occasions; narrowly losing out in the 1988 African Cup of Nations, qualifiers for the 1990 World Cup, and then the controversial final of the 2000 African Cup of Nations where a kick taken by Victor Ikpeba during the penalty shoot-out was adjudged not to have crossed the goal-line by the referee.

Africa Cup of Nations record

1963–1978

Nigeria first appeared in the Africa Cup of Nations in 1963, when they were drawn in a group with Sudan, and the then United Arab Republic. They did not advance to the next stage. The team withdrew from two African Cup of Nations between 1963 and 1974, due to political instability. In 1976, they came back to the Cup of Nations with third-place finishes in both the 1976 and 1978 Africa cup of Nations

1980–1990
Edit
Nigeria hosted the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations and also won their first Cup of Nations Title that year in Lagos. Nigeria came out as runners-up three times and had one group stage elimination, between 1982 and 1990. They also failed to qualify for the 1986 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Egypt.

1992–2006

Nigeria appeared again in the African cup of Nations in 1992 and 1994, they finished third in 1992 and won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations, which was the second time they won the tournament. In 1996 the team withdrew from the tournament due to the political tensions in the country as at that time, they were also banned from entering the 1998 African Cup of Nations. In 2000 they returned to the Cup of Nations and were the runner-up. They later finished in third place at the 2002, 2004 and 2006 Africa Cup of Nations.

2008–2017

Egypt versus Nigeria lineup at 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, Uzomedia
In the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria ended their campaign in the quarter finals after losing to Ghana. They qualified for 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Angola, but were eliminated by Ghana in the semi-finals. They failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations after ending the qualifiers with a 2–2 draw against Guinea with goals from Ikechukwu Uche and Victor Obinna. Nigeria came back in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in South Africa; after playing through the tournament with an unbeaten run, they defeated Burkina Faso in the finals to lift the Cup for the third time. However, they did not qualify for either of the next two tournaments.

2019 Cup of Nations
On 13 January 2017, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the draw for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification. The Super Eagles were grouped in group E alongside South Africa, Seychelles, and Libya. Nigeria topped the group and qualified after playing out a barren draw with South Africa in Johannesburg.

Madagascar and burundi should give us a clean 6point, a draw or win against guinea is enough. i think This cup is among Egypt, Senegal and Nigeria to win.
