There are reports that Confederation of African
Football (CAF) has withdrawn the hosting of
the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) from
Cameroon. It was learnt that the decision was taken at the
CAF Extraordinary Executive Committee
meeting held in Accra, Ghana on Friday. It was gathered that the decision was taken
after a report by the last inspection team to
Cameroon stating that there is “a significant
delay as far as the delivery of infrastructure is
concerned.”

Details later…

Hmmmm... There is a meltdown already in the economy of Africa so I am not suprised if countries are avoiding to host any major tournament. But dot be surprised when you see Big Brother (Nigeria) coming to form papaz now.

Within a few months to tournament?

Just confirmed it on Brila FM website. This is bad

The Confederation of African Football, CAF has reportedly withdrawn the 2019 African Cup of Nations hosting right from Cameroon, according to a report on Bein.
Earlier, the executive committee of CAF are to meet in the Ghanaian capital Accra on the sidelines of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournament, an official of the Cairo-based told AFP.

Reports of the last two inspection visits to central African state Cameroon will be made during the meeting.

CAF inspectors recently traveled to the country, which last hosted the tournament in 1972, to check security, infrastructure, stadiums, and accommodation.

After the executive committee meeting, a decision whether Cameroon should continue as hosts of the June 15-July 13 African football showpiece is set to be made.

If Cameroon are rejected, CAF will have to launch a new application procedure to designate another host country for the biennial tournament first staged in Sudan 61 years ago.

I think it is time a permanent site is built for African Tournaments. This could be built in four countries, one from each of North, East, West and Southern Africa. The host contributes as well as African Confederation and profits are shared as per contribution. This issue of hosting by completely unprepared countries is counterproductive. Cameroon has not only insurgency and secession to grapple with but also an aged sit-tight president Paul Biya we were taught in Primary School many years ago as president of same Cameroon!

Would you expect less from a Country with a President whose Age is twice the value of their IGR?
