I celebrate my younger bro today, he's a warrior indeed, if you're not told you won't even think he's one, I pray God continue to preserve and keep him for all of us and also a dear friend of mine.

Taking the following steps to stay healthy may help you avoid complications of sickle cell anemia:

Take folic acid supplements daily, and choose a healthy diet. Bone marrow needs folic acid and other vitamins to make new red blood cells.
Choose a diet that focuses on a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains.
Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can increase your risk of a sickle cell crisis.
Drink water throughout your day, aiming for about eight glasses a day.
Increase the amount of water you drink if you exercise or spend time in a hot, dry climate.
Avoid temperature extremes. Exposure to extreme heat or cold can increase your risk of a sickle cell crisis.
Exercise regularly, but don't overdo it.

....................... .......................... ............................
For the people that want to know if sickle cell be cured

Here is the answer : Bone marrow transplant, also known as stem cell transplant, offers the only potential cure for sickle cellanemia....
As a result, treatment for sickle cell anemia is usually aimed at avoiding crises, relieving symptoms and preventing complications.

............................... .................................. ...............................
The number and main important thing to note : AS should not get married to AS.
This has led to a lot of deaths in the country.
People should not let love blind them.
AS getting marry to another AS is not love but foolishness
You are well informed.

To all my sickle cell brothers and sisters I wish u all divine happiness and strength to carry on till you have fulfilled your dreams in this world.

People should please be mindful of their choice of life partners when it comes to genotype and other life threatening ailments.
Dont go and marry out of love and bring innocent children to life of suffering and crisis because that love will eventually turn to hatred.
If you must marry, consider alternative means of raising children while only two of you enjoy your marriage.
Awareness and sensitization needs be increased in areas like this.
May God help us all. sad

I celebrate my wife today, she is SS. Even though we go through situations... rarely. I believe with love, we have been able to pull through together so to me, it's no shame to have married you knowing you are one. I am AA and that has given us 3 wonderful children. Many more years to come, we will still both be around together to nurture them to adult hood. LOVE AND CARE ABOVE ALL. 10 years on and still counting........ smiley

Please MoDs celebrate the Warriors today.

NB
We call ourselves the Warriors because we are constantly fighting unending battles with Sickle Cell. And no matter how tough each battle is, we always come out victorious.

God will continue to give victory to you all on daily basis.

If you are in doubt do a little google search. Almost every month, Nigeria birth at least 300,000 children with sickle cell disease. No thanks to some of the false genotype test results being churned out by the numerous medical laboratories all over the country.

This is what Ola Rotimi has to say "The gods are not to blame". I have the same problem some years ago, after much tests we were given clearance to go ahead with wedding later discovered in marriage that something had gone wrong. Sometimes you may not know whom to ask questions in life but God knows everything that surrounds us.

For all the warriors out there, struggle continues. Those that are considering marrying people with genotype that will result to sickle cell anemia should please pleas and please don't if you are considering having children. The only hope for people that marry with a combination that will result to sickle cell is to do at CVS at 10 to 12 weeks of pregnancy and if present, decide whether to go on with pregnancy or not.

For those that are suffers, there is hope of living long in life. Just do as you are told by the medics and live a healthy life. Inspirational link for suffers.
