Disregard travel ban in South East, Ohaneze youth tells investors

Awka, June 21, 2019: The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide has urged investors to disregard the recent travel ban issued in two states of the South East by the Foreign and Commonwealth office of the United Kingdom.

Dr Arthur Uchenna-Obiorah made the position of the youth organisation known at a news conference on Friday in Awka.

He said that the alleged terrorism attacks in the two of South-East states was a mere malicious ploy to scare investors from investing in the area.

Uchenna-Obiorah said the ploy was to discourage investments particy the proposed Free Trade Zone about to commence at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu.

The group added that South-East was the most peaceful zone in Nigeria, urging investors to explore promising business atmosphere in Aba, Nnewi and Onitsha etc.

"There is no doubt to repeat that our region has remained the most peaceful zone in Nigeria, we are peace loving people and business inclined too", he said.

"Ohaneze youths wish to assure willing investors to disregard the UK terror scare report and come to the South-East and do business here without fear.

"The United Kingdom and Commonwealth office are entitled to their findings, but we in Igbo land know our territory more than anyone else.

"We want to reassure prospective investors to feel free to come to any part of the five South-East states, in addition to Delta and Rivers states without fear of any terror attack", he said.

On the proposal made by the National leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) that it's members be integrated into the vigilance security architecture in the South-East, Uchenna-Obiorah warned against such collaboration.

"The apex Igbo socio cultural group youths has all it takes to secure the South-East territory with the support of our state governors.

"The proposal by the national chairman of MACBAN Alhaji Mohammadu Kirowawho spoke through the national secretary Alhaji Baba Ngelzarma at the security stakeholders organised by the South East Chambers of Commerce, Mine and Agriculture, SECCIMA in Enugu should be seen as a Greek gift", he said.

Uchenna-Obiorah told the governors that including the herders in their sensitive local vigilance security architecture would be counter productive.

He said that the youth Wing of Ohaneze met yesterday night reviewed the overture by the herders and resolved that the zone don't need security romance with a third party.

" Without mincing words, we are capable of securing our zone and our governors should disregard the Fulani herders' proposal and overture", he said.

Why should anyone go to the South East when the Indigenes are relocating to other regions, in search of greener pastures and fear of Criminals?

I was transferred to Onitcha 3 years ago. I almost resigned. I contacted a friend that works in Onitcha, he told me that. All the Company and Federal Government workers that works in Onitcha, don't live in Onitcha. They are all based at Asaba. They come to Onitcha to work in the morning and after the closing hours, they all leave back to their respective homes in Asaba. This was why I resumed in Onitcha, but I was based in Asaba. I later worked my transfer out of that horrible place called Onitcha, I've never stayed in Onitcha till 5 in the evening.

Onitcha is such a terrible place, very boring with zero night life and entertainment. Onitcha is a Ghost town ones it's 7pm, cause all the stores are locked before 5:30 in the evening. For the fear on Criminals. I rather live in Maiduguri than to live in Onitcha.
