Osun State House of Assembly on Friday said it had directed relevant agencies of government to furnish it with the updated details of the state’s debt and financial profile.

This was contained in a statement by Mr. Kunle Akande, the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Publicity, obtained in Osogbo.

The statement also said the lawmakers felt concerned by the reactions trailing the state’s debt profile declared by Governor Ademola Adeleke. “The Assembly as the accredited representatives of the people is duty bound to seek clarifications and inform the people of the state accordingly.

“In this regard, we have instructed the appropriate agencies of government to immediately furnish the House with the updated details of the state’s debt and financial profile.


“We hereby call on all investors and business owners not to be alarmed by the said debt profile of the state,” the statement concluded.

Adeleke, while addressing a meeting of the state traditional rulers in Osogbo on Thursday, had said the state had N407.32 debt portfolio, declaring that his predecessor in office, Adegboyega Oyetola must explain how the state came about the debt.

But while reacting, spokesperson for the ex-governor, Ismail Omipidan, insisted that Oyetola did not borrow during his four-year tenure and challenged the government to publish dates the loans were procured.

Facts are sacred and I wandered if you have seen or read the letter sent to the Public by the former Finance Commissioner on this matter,on 15th this Month!
Fortunately,some of you are zealous about the Party involved and differs in opinions no matter,who is making alternative suggestions!
I'm not a party man,so get that well but the Commissioner has enumerated the Banks involved and you should visit the banks, including the Loan taken! Stop being judgemental!
It's left for Adeleke to show the Public that the former Commissioner Statistics were all subterfuge!
You can also help your new Governor to debunk the figures as false,since you want to fight for him, bearing in mind that Osun are knowledgeable enough to know the truth! According to PDAPC urchins incurring heavy debt is the way to know a government that has worked. Indeed Oyetola must have worked so hard.
