Osun State House of Assembly on Friday said it had directed relevant agencies of government to furnish it with the updated details of the state’s debt and financial profile.

This was contained in a statement by Mr. Kunle Akande, the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Publicity, obtained in Osogbo.

The statement also said the lawmakers felt concerned by the reactions trailing the state’s debt profile declared by Governor Ademola Adeleke. “The Assembly as the accredited representatives of the people is duty bound to seek clarifications and inform the people of the state accordingly.

“In this regard, we have instructed the appropriate agencies of government to immediately furnish the House with the updated details of the state’s debt and financial profile.

“We hereby call on all investors and business owners not to be alarmed by the said debt profile of the state,” the statement concluded.

Adeleke, while addressing a meeting of the state traditional rulers in Osogbo on Thursday, had said the state had N407.32 debt portfolio, declaring that his predecessor in office, Adegboyega Oyetola must explain how the state came about the debt.

But while reacting, spokesperson for the ex-governor, Ismail Omipidan, insisted that Oyetola did not borrow during his four-year tenure and challenged the government to publish dates the loans were procured.

Simple matter, ex-governor should provide account numbers and account statements like Peter Obi did when some people tried to discredit the facts!

Oyetola 's team has asked the new govt to furnish us with hard evidence of the said loans. Amounts taken and dates.

What is causing them delay in providing this information?

Lies and denials in their DNA. Full bewitchment of their supporters is their tool. Who noticed that electricity tariff which they met in 2015 at 44.4 units to one thousand naira presently is 13.3 units to one thousand naira? Their supporters will pretend they do not know. Petrol costs now is 250 and yet their supporters tell you it is the way forward. Very soon their supporters will not be able to purchase their regular ewa ati breadi because the cost of bread has shot over the roof.

They have taken loans from everywhere available, yet they keep denying. Please decent Nigerians, this is a call to vote right. Another pathetic error of voting APC in 2023, will keep you in misery, penury, poverty, pain, sorrow and sadness.

Please, leave this matter to Osun People and let them solve it together, for they know the way out and let the Peter Obi matter to Anambra!
Did you read Mr Oyebanji' s letter( former Finance Commissioner) to the Public and details of how the amount left for the new Governor and the banks involved, stated therein?
Some of you just come and continue on this Forum without deep analysis on issues! There are many routes to the Market, please!

Oga analyst, so you do not know that there is a difference between a letter and the reality? So you presume that Adeleke would make such a weighty revelation to the state, without verifiable facts? Why did the state assembly request for records, if there would be none to show to them? Why should the matter be left to Osun people? Is Osun state not part of Nigeria anymore? Or you do not know that Nigerian issues concern all Nigerians?

Facts are sacred and I wandered if you have seen or read the letter sent to the Public by the former Finance Commissioner on this matter,on 15th this Month!
Fortunately, some of you are zealous about the Party involved and differs in opinions no matter, who is making alternative suggestions!
I'm not a party man,so get that well but the Commissioner has enumerated the Banks involved and you should visit the banks, including the Loan taken! Stop being judgemental!
It's left for Adeleke to show the Public that the former Commissioner Statistics were all subterfuge!
You can also help your new Governor to debunk the figures as false, since you want to fight for him, bearing in mind that Osun are knowledgeable enough to know the truth! Besides, the new Governor should state the Banks and account numbers involved,if it will not tell on him, when he will leave the government one day,in years to come, known that govt is add- continuum!
Have you not seen or heard, where incoming government make spurious allegations, just to paint the outgoing bad,in order to corner more resources for themselves and we have that a lot with Nigerian Politicians!

PDP online Vuvuzelas maliciously criticized Obi for leaving investments in local and foreign currency for the incoming government out of sheer hate and wickedness.

I am here to congratulate Oyetola for depleting the state accounts and incurring debt nearly N0.5Trillion. According to PDAPC urchins incurring heavy debt is the way to know a government that has worked. Indeed Oyetola must have worked so hard. Adeleke you may start selling govt properties to be able to pay owed salaries if no financial organization want to borrow you more money. In summary keep working grin
