... This is not Apc or PDP thing. Both parties have been using this system to win Elections some people will say it's Buhari's doing even Atiku won't like this system to be scrapped including all the Elites in all the Regions they prefer to invest in churches and mosques than in Education. Because Education is an eye opener but some people are still blinded by hate, tribe and religion. If you look closely in all the regions a small village without Electricity, good road or school will have a big religious edifice this is to show you these men are greedy and only want power they want to keep the people in the dark forever By using religion as a weapon. Religion don't make us think unlike formal education which gives the opportunity to Analyze things. I pity people who fight for these thieves.

Who will northern political elites use for subsequent elections then?

Their children studying abroad?

I don't think so

The almajiri system existed before the existence of this country... but it has been bastardized because the students (almajiri) now roam d street n for food, which is not supposed to be.

The Govt can't ban it immediately, they don't want panic n backlash from people like that mumuric Ishaq Akintola. Reason they want to consult relevant authorities ( I guess the Emirs and religious leaders and any related body ) before implementing d ban in a gradual process.

Prescribing it is an ultimate goal, according to d president but it has to pass through the right process.

Not surprised.

The North like their Oligarchy system.

The wider the margin between the elite and poor, the better for them.

so who will speak for the child. The one that watches other parents feed and pamper teir children while he roams around with rags and a bowl begging

I hope their true voices will be captured in the process.I hope those who promote almajiri show us their children and tell us of their welfare

Almajiris grow with no love in their heart.Who will blame them. When society has dealt them the fatal blow of unkindness.

What is the global practice on this system. Why is Nigerias own different. We must not be afraid to speak the truth. The almajiri system as it is in Nigeria is injustice to abandoned children.

The only stakeholders that matter in this conversation is the homeless, hungry, unkempt, futureless, almajiri child. In this converation their voices and future must count.

How would they ban a system that benefits the elite. The almajiri system is focused on keeping the people of the north docile, a terrible feudal system which is religiously enshrined. They are just block voting tools to the northern elite, nothing more.

As far as that system exists, Boko Haram, bandits and herdsmen will never lack foot soldiers.

North is a whole lot of problem undecided

It will take more that just political will to do so. It's a norm in the Northern region, we're talking of millions of Children. I'm curious to know the methods the government will use to implement such.

Yea, it has being before the existence of the country.
Now whatever the FG plans to do is nothing but mere politics. We lack implementation of laws in this country.
Who does the FG want to consult. .................
Are laws supposed to be made in the interest of the elites or ruling class or for the less privilege?

Now speaking about backlash: How old is Islam and the almajiri system in Northern Nigeria?
In the list of countries practicing Islam how does Northern Nigeria compare with other countries like Turkey, UAE, Iran, Saudi Arabia in respect of the almajiri system?

Hahahaha!

I mentioned this yesterday. Banning their henchmen? Who will they use to terrorise Southerners in the North, to kill, maim, burn down and chop of heads when the time comes? Doesn’t make sense.

Ride on Buhari!
