Well, the truth is that often times a lot of Nigerians don't want to do these kind of jobs which the Togoleses and others are snapping up, that's besides the fact that they are more skilled; some would rather even ride okada or engage in Yahoo or ritualism .

The situation is similar to what is obtainable in the United States, where Mexicans/Hispanics are doing jobs that Americans reject yet the Americans beef them for 'taking their jobs'. These jobs are needed so somebody just has to do them. And that is why Hispanics will always be welcome in America because they don't turn down jobs and are very hard-working.

Just like the EU guys (especially Eastern European and Mediterranean) and British people. The British people don't want to work and even when they do, they don't like many of the menial jobs, yet they complain that foreigners are taking their jobs.

Very good... Let them keep taking the jobs and doing them better... I hate monopoly with a passion. Some Nigerian artisans behave like demi-gods, when they don't even have exceptional skills.

Wrong. At every level of life, a particular job means something to a Nigerian at that level. I'm a semi skilled worker, I worked with an Indian, the creativity I displayed, he couldn't believe. Nigerians think they are being smart when they don't give their best. The togolese pay attention to details unlike hurry hurry Nigerians

And thats what the OP was trying to point out that jobs at the ground level are being taken by Togolese while we lament. Incase you didn't get the rhetoric he was trying to encourage Nigerian Masons to up their games and advise others to join the craft

They av now turned themselves into gods and threaten we Nigerians doing the same job with juju. They boast of that a lot

It would be unfair to expect a generation that has been imbued with goals far higher than they could ever imagine to start thinking of artisanship, when the corporate world looks captivating? I am not, and really there is nothing truly wrong with that.

Dude they are more skilled than us!! If you build houses you will appreciate their screeding, plastering, tiling, pop etc more than Nigerian artisans

There is mechanic I use beside Globe motors at Ologolo, Lekki. All the boys there are from Benin Republic. They seem to know the work better and cheat less. Fantastic combination if you ask me, especially if you have dealt with Nigerian mechanics.

This is not true. Carry out a little research on Hubert Ogunde, Baba Sala and "much recently" Alade Aromire. I don't think there were any (prominent) Igbo actors or films when, "Aiye", "Jaiyesimi", Orun Mooru and Co were already being shown in Cinemas all over the country. WNTV, later NTV (now NTA) has been showing plays and films on TV since the 60s. Some of these were transformed into movies later. All before 1992.
