i am an estate surveyor and to tell you the truth, the deal looks shady. does the agent have a real office location? have you asked people around about the agent? when he became worried after you took his picture just sold him out. request for a refund before the bubble burst on your head.

my dad who was into agency business fell into this kind of thing with his clients last year. in fact, they will issue original receipts to you join self to cover their track. fear any house that a developer is involved.

Hello guys.... I'm devastated right now, I can't even think.... I just want to wake up from this dream. This would have been different if I didn't see it coming, God really tried to help us, it was very obvious! On my way to work yesterday, my mind wasn't at rest again, my spirit told me to go to that house to go check what is going on, I did and one of the men saw me there and came outside before I entered, he knew I know they are fraudsters but I have no evidence so he is always mean towards me, especially after I took pics of the agent. He said we should come today or Monday for the key, on getting there today, just as I suspected, many people were already in the apartment crying and most were shocked because many people paid up-to half a million for same apartment. The lucky ones are those who moved in first. Now I'm just sitting down confused, frustrated, I have no idea what to do....i tried but I wasn't listened to, somehow I might even be blamed as African mentality.

IT TURNED OUT TO BE FRAUD!!!!!!

Saying I'm devastated is an understatement!!!!

You got an agent's number, called him requesting for an apartment.. You meet, he takes you to a nice affordable house....you like the house, he asked you to pay on time before someone else takes it up, you did and he said he won't give you the key yet until the completion of the house, because they are still working on it. He said, the keys would be given to you by a lawyer and the lawyer will give you another receipt in exchange for the one given to you by the agent and developer. So you are here waiting till that date given to you for collection after making full payment.

Has anything like this ever happened and turns out to be genuine or are they fraudsters?

They claimed all the houses have been taken, but another number was used to call the agent and he still mentioned the area of this particular house that they claim the apartments are all taken?

If they are fraudsters, what advise do you suggest in finding out their genuineness and what actions to be taken to recover the money before they flee.

I think something is not right, did you see or talk with the owner of the property before paying to the agent. next time don't pay to the agent but rather pay to the owner of the property or on he/she(the owner) instruction

Thanks

His phone number : 08029657993

I don't have this particular man's pic, but he was the one we made transfer to and he claimed to be an Alhaji. .

A colleague of mine in the office also fell for same fraudster, Tunde Adewale .. He paid 240k already and over a 100 victims are involved.

This is the painful part, because I had the opportunity to get my money back but the person who paid kept defending them....he is even more disappointed than I am now.

Yes I have... He spoke to me, told me not to worry that in 8 days time we can come for the keys, but my fear got triggered when another agent did a private investigation and told me to run, that they ain't genuine. But no evidence...?
Who gave you the landlord's number?

dear all,

never go for a house being owned by a developer. many of them are fraudsters. i can give many examples i know of, don't be surprised that the agent might not know about the fraud. many of the prospective tenants came through agents, so many of those agents dont know about the fraud.
many of the agents are after their fee and so dont bother to investigate and open up to their clients on prospective properties. only a God fearing or well recognized estate firm that will tell you the truth because of their reputations.

always go through a registered and recognised estate firm.

In this case, the agent is very much aware...he ran off too and his name isn't even on the list of all the agents association club or something in Ketu.

Those guys really perfected their plan, all of them were given the same receipt with the same handwriting and signature. They also gave them the same date to pack in.

Their plan like someone said above, is to allow the atmosphere to calm down before perpetrating another crime. They want all of them to come together and suffer the pain together at the same time so the atmosphere will cool down together.

My friend said some of the lawyers were familiar with the face of the guy (that is, the one claiming Alhaji). They said he has done something like that before, just that it was not as big as this one.

The truth here is that, there is 50-50 chance of getting your money but it will still cost you money. Even if you get the road side agent, he can only sign agreement to pay by installment. the cost implication of arresting him is another thing. tracking his phone line is another cost, going to police regularly is another cost.

those developers use the fraud money to go and build another site and continue the trend. this is what many of them do and it is usually mini flats they build because it is hot cake and easy for people to rent.

We have created a WhatsApp group, we are about 120 on the group and still got a second group for another set of people, as most people just discovered the fraud today....we are looking at over 200 victims. So we are trying to contribute money to get justice and our money back.

Like someone previously advised, the victim should prepare funds already to renew his rent or pay for a new property after satisfying due diligence.

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but i don't see anything coming out of it except if the Tunde Adewale guy is truly the property owner or has link with the property owner but if not, sorry is the case.
