To be candid babe those fraudsters if they’re still in town will jet out in max 3 days,we are talking bout 200 people paying a minimum of 200k babe that’s 40m at least you will need serious luck to catch them to be candid....if they don’t abscond they must have an insane kinda backup plan to be so confident so you won’t be able to catch them easily.....but if they don’t and they’re still in Lagos they must be the dumbest fraudsters on the face of the earth cos you can even get a visa on arrival in rwanda while loads of African countries and the Caribbean being the same in other words this is a well thought out fraud-scheme and a well thought out plan....You will need a lot of support but if they’re still in town they can be easily tracked or smoked out and if they state government gets involved that would be your best bet as they can take it seriously...the police can be easily influenced with money even with their own involved and EFCC can only arrest or prosecute a suspect they can locate or reach if not they’re mostly useless in your situation....I just hope the Mr hazmat helps you guys on this cos to be frank with you it’s only serious help from that kinda level that can help you get justice and recover your money..........

The deed has been done and the lesson has been learnt - though in hard way.

The issue now is "solution". These guy carted away around 40 million of naira. Over 200 person paid them and the least is 150k, some paid 500k depending on what you want (flat and self contain).

IT TURNED OUT TO BE FRAUD!!!!!!

Saying I'm devastated is an understatement!!!!

You got an agent's number, called him requesting for an apartment.. You meet, he takes you to a nice affordable house....you like the house, he asked you to pay on time before someone else takes it up, you did and he said he won't give you the key yet until the completion of the house, because they are still working on it. He said, the keys would be given to you by a lawyer and the lawyer will give you another receipt in exchange for the one given to you by the agent and developer. So you are here waiting till that date given to you for collection after making full payment.

Has anything like this ever happened and turns out to be genuine or are they fraudsters?

YOU ARE FUNNY, ARE YOU LISTENING TO URSELF

IF YU ARE A GUY EEEEE, I WILL QUESTION ALOT OF THINGS

COMMON SENSE IS USABLE!!

They claimed all the houses have been taken, but another number was used to call the agent and he still mentioned the area of this particular house that they claim the apartments are all taken?

If they are fraudsters, what advise do you suggest in finding out their genuineness and what actions to be taken to recover the money before they flee.

exactly. check my recent comment. after this fraud, he will use the money to go and develop another site and continues like that. how do you think all this developers get money to build this several mini flats within months.
this is pure scam. well to get your money, involve soldiers. police no fit recover the money.

So those that moved in, who will they pay to when their rent expires? Can't the fraudsters be tracked down by then abi na automatic free accommodation henceforth for the lucky ones

Exactly, I am very sure they will contact those who moved in but that might be in a year's time but hopefully before then they would be behind bars by God's Grace! They caused so many of us so much pains.

dear all,

never go for a house being owned by a developer. many of them are fraudsters. i can give many examples i know of, don't be surprised that the agent might not know about the fraud. many of the prospective tenants came through agents, so many of those agents dont know about the fraud.
many of the agents are after their fee and so dont bother to investigate and open up to their clients on prospective properties. only a God fearing or well recognized estate firm that will tell you the truth because of their reputations.

always go through a registered and recognised estate firm.

He did not tell them he's a developer. He claim to be the Landlord and as far as today nobody has claimed the ownership of the house.

But if they sell the house the money cannot pay half of what they collected.

my sister just put it in prayer that your money is part of what is repaid. that justice you seek for is on a long thing. i know what i am saying, if una like make una dey 2000 people, not everyone will get the money back. the only money that can easily be gotten back is the agency fee paid to the agents who are genuine.

BecaciaBarbie:

We have created a WhatsApp group, we are about 120 on the group and still got a second group for another set of people, as most people just discovered the fraud today....we are looking at over 200 victims. So we are trying to contribute money to get justice and our money back.

The person who paid, said he saw his number on a poster just by the road side....terrible mistake!!!
Wow, well if you suspect foul play, get the numbers of those involved, try to know their house and close associates. You can't pay for a place and not collect the keys. Try verifying the address on the receipt with you. Do all these so you know who to arrest when the need arises. Nigeria is currently a terrible place, even people legitimately in a business won't hesitate to defraud if they see a mugu.

I really wish you guys the best.

About 107 of the victims gathered at the deputy governors office at Alausa yesterday to submit a petition against Tunde Adewale as he seem well connected. It was also rumored that he was at EFCC office this morning but that is yet to be proven.

My advice to anyone and you incase of next time pay and collect both receipt and all the keys to the apartment immediately. Otherwise just walk away and find another option.
Most times it is the desperate people that fall into their traps. Be guided

You've been scammed brother. Same thing happened to a friend some years back. We both saw a building under construction, almost completed though and after meeting with the estate agents and shown round the building, my guy decided he was going for the apartment. Payment was made( guy was coerced to pay promptly in order to be able to secure the flat as others have been coming) and receipt issued. I began to sense a foul play when the keys weren't given immediately but my friend dispelled my concern as nothing.
A date was given to come for the keys and when we got there in the evening after work, it was really a sorry sight. Almost 200 people scammed and all were asked to come for keys that same day. Funny thing is, a lady moved all her belongings all the way from Ibadan thinking she was moving into her apartment that day. I also remember 2 families packing into a flat at the same time, come see fight as the 1st set of people to pack in locked themselves in their flats. It was really a bad day to remember. At the end of the day, we discovered that almost 200 people paid for apartments and the question on everyone's lips was how the agent guys executed the whole scam without any of the people meeting themselves.

You are absolutely right....there are no reasons yet to draw any conclusion which seems annoying lol because now I just have to wait, anyways I will put this in prayers as God is the only One who can help me right now, and He knows their real identities. Thanks for your advice and concerns as talking about this helped eased this whole stress. I will give you more details as I go check the apartment and also once I have the key by God's Grace.....thank you so much.

U major concern shud be the if the agent Ure dealing with is a genuine estate agent/agency. Any other thing is immaterial as u know if U don’t get that apartment for whatever reason Ure getting ur money back or another suitable apartment. A police can or other agents can help u verify this facts.

On his different stories agents don’t usually turn clients down they will always tell u Smtn is available it now depends on if it’s the actual one they described or u want.

The story has the picture of a fraud tho. To many doubt and fears over the house is a bad sign.

Oh no, if you had gone through my post carefully, you have read where I made mention that we are two involved and he didn't believe me because he made the payment! he kept defending them, turning down my fears and seeing me as being weak, as he was scared of losing the apartment due to my fears. infact, he got angry when I had misunderstandings with them because I took pics of the man in charge. Every time I go there, he gets pissed....now I am sure he is wishing he listened to me, but now isn't the time for blames...everyone is hurting.

I don’t understand, did you both jointly paid the rent? Who’s money is it? You or him? Don’t understand... Anyway no need answering the questions but like I said before, forget about the money because it’s gone otherwise, you will end up spending more than what you paid. Let this be a lesson, anyone you made payment to for any business and he/she start telling stories, collect your money instantly as e dey hot.
