An Abuja businessman, Alhaji Umar Bello, on Friday dragged his divorced wife, Akbar, to a Gudu Grade I Area Court, praying the court to order her out of his house.

Bello is also seeking the court’s order to the divorced wife to return the Certificate of Occupancy of the house to him.
He informed the court that his 20-year-old marriage to Akbar was dissolved on Dec. 4,2018.

He further told the court that since the divorce, Akbar had refused to move out of the house and had also seized the certificate of occupancy.

Akbar, however, through her counsel, Usman Imam, denied all the allegations.

The Judge, Ado Muktar, advised both parties to go and prepare their witnesses against the next adjourned date.

He then adjourned the case till July 16 for hearing.

I don't know about their being together. But imagine your sister being thrown out of her home after 20yrs of marriage. The thought of it esp knowing how some of these women up north totally depended or are forced to depend on the man while being married to him. All in all sha, I am not saying they must remain married but e just dey painful to know.

I doubt this is something that happened from one day to the next, these two must have had problems for a while, and it came to the day when enough was enough.... And as painful as it may be, I rather see them happily divorced than miserably living together.

As for women solely depending on their men during marriage, then let them blame themselves for that. If you were uneducated and jobless before marriage, then that's exactly what you will be after marriage....no difference here.

I Don hear you. In your opinion every woman must be able to afford education, religion and culture does not insist that a woman obeys the orders of her husband as it concerns her going out to work, start a business or not esp taking into consideration where she comes from.

Don't get me wrong, a woman deserves exactly what she had before she went on to get married. If you expect her to be somehow rewarded an education/employment/brain (or whatever) because she spent 20yrs married to someone, then you are the clueless one here.

Many women have plenty of time to educate themselves and/or find gainful employment when the kids are away in school....if they don't and instead gladly sit on their sorry behind watching telenovelas all day, then I am sorry but we have to solely blame these same foolish women who thought that they were gonna be drinking milk and honey while doing nothing for the rest of their natural lives.
