And how has this counter balancing helped any of the minorities? They are still poor despite the huge oil and gas wealth coming from their lands.
The southern minorities aren't poor, I beg to disagree, if you are looking for poor people I think you should check Northern Nigeria. The region is only pledged with bad leaders, which is not even limited to the oil rich region alone but the entire Country.

The counter balancing has somehow helped in protecting the Identity, interest and culture of the minorities, just Imagine a country with only a single major ethnic group, they will impose their Interests, language, culture, traditions and beliefs on the helpless minorities.

Now let me use my state as an example, because we have somehow experienced first hand what it means to share a region with a single major ethnic group. I remembered in the Western region, they made a decision to spend 225,000 pounds in Awolowo’s home province of Ijebu with a population of just 383,000, as compared with 169,000 pounds in the Benin province with a population of 624,000. Now imagine if the western region had got another major ethnic group, will that be possible?

At least in Biafra, the minorities would have had only Igbos to contend with. In Nigeria the have Igbo/Yoruba/Hausa-Fulani to contend with.

I have never heard of anyone who solved a problem by making it triple.
So in essence, You are angry because you guys aren't the one dominating and calling the shots, and you want a country where no one will challenge you?

This just sums it up. It all boils down to your personal interest (Nothing actually wrong with that, we all have got one), not some love for anyone, guess what? the minorities have got interests too, and avoiding a false union with a major ethnic group is one of them.

Your personal opinion and do I care, hell no.
I've told you how we can get Biafra but you and your friends would rather call me and others names if we disagree with your opinion and always make it anti Igbo or Biafra.
The new nation would affect us all for good or bad and we all have a right to having a say about it.
You are free to call me an Eskimo and I equally have a right to call you an American Indian.
Alright sire, just go back to where u from. The insult is getting irritating.

Truth be told.

Yes Biafra would have succeeded. With coal and huge gas in Ugwuoba Enugu state and Egbema in Imo state to power electricity...High rises like in Hong kong would have been in major cities. Ebonyi state, Anambra state and Enugu states have arable lands for Agriculture. Remember Abakiliki rice, Adada rice. For tourism Oguta lake areas in Imo state is an attraction with high rise buildings. Anambra state and Abia state will be for manufacturing..So yes Biafra would have gone far and highly successful. Remember the area has high quality human resources.

Also they have vibrant sports personnel. Most Football, basket ball and athletic personnel in Nigeria are from that region.

This same constitution give the States the power to provide portable water, sewage and refuse disposal to States and LGA.

The Constitution is NOT preventing any State from providing portable water to her citizens or enduring clean environment.

PDJT:
-Because of the stranglehold of Nigeria and it’s military decree you lots call Constitution. Are you happy now?

If Biafra wants to succed...they should forget about oil, and focus on education and innovation.

Because assuming Biafra secceds(assuming it is SE and SS)...it would become a debtor nation in a decade.

I hear a lot about the 'resourcefulness of the Igbo man'...yet, the biggest business in Igbo land is selling imported stuff (Now, I'm not insulting...besides, practically EVERY tribe does the same thing). If Igbos were that resourceful...why is there only one Innocent Chukuma of Innoson fame?

When Biafra becomes independent, the only way it can earn forex...is by exporting crude oil. Sure..there would be a lot of money...which would be used to import stuff. Especially food because Biafra does not have enough land for food production (dense population...). And with a border between it and the rest of Nigeria...where most of Biafra's food comes from...that's a lot of scarce forex going into Nigerian coffers. Add the amount of forex going out via the importation businesses of most Ibo businessmen...and even other tribes...and in a few years, Biafra would be taking loans to keep above water.

Another problem is the oil. Who controls the oil. 80% of the oil in Biafraland is in minority areas. I havfe heard some people saying Nnamdi Kanu is promising 100% resurce control....for the SS...but me I jsut laugh. In essence he is going to leave a lot of non oil producing areas in Biafra broke...and most of them are in Igbo land (add the Ekoi-Yakurr, and most of Akwa Ibom...). The tribal fight is going to intensify...and this would hamper nation building (There is a reason why minority tribes prefer one Nigeria...the big tribes can fight themselves and leave us alone)

The only way Biafra can survive is simple...invest heavily in education, and invest heavily in industrial development. Don't use oil like the Saudis use oil....Saudi is proseprous...but everything they use in that country is imported. They don't have a domestic industrial base...so if they are invaded by America tomorrow...they would be defeated, and defeated heavily. Be like Singapore...and South Korea and Japan and China. Implement a strict meritocracy(ESPECIALLY IN EDUCATION). Make products that the world would want to buy. Don;t sell oil and import plenty of stuff with the revenue...because that is how nations get broke and weak.

In the intermediate period after a 'Biafran independence'...form some economic union with Nigeria in the intermediate period...don't allow a hard border spring up between you and the rest of the country...because that is going to make your food situation worse. And fight for dual citizenship and freedom of movement of Biafrans in the remainder of Nigeria....with freedom from taxation if living and working in Nigeria.

That is this 'One Nigeria' guy suggestion.

Lol ....the igbos want the south south not for oil but because of access to see

In the propose biafra each of the provrence control her resources and pay tax to the central government ...so whats the fuss about

For me i think igbos should stop protecting south south , doing this makes us look desperate

Im sure akwa-cross would follow igbos the rest can stay in nigeria

Once we have access to sea the rest is history
Bros, Igbo haters know this and this is why they're so bothered about Biafra having sea access or not!

Having sea access is just one issue they agonise over. The other is Biafra being in control of its own natural resources...cutting them off, and thereby ending their control of the oil and gas industry, which enables them to grab most of the benefits to their regions and their people based on all manner of underhand scheming like, landmass; population; land use decree; allocation of oil wells; etc.

Funnily enough, IPOB and Mazi Kanu have told them to keep the bloody oil/gas (based on the present distribution formula) while Biafra (Igbos and whosoever else votes in a referendum to join us) leaves their bigoted, leeching and hateful asses behind to go form their own country! As we speak, they (IPOB) are yet to hear anything on this from any 'one Nigeria' fanatic!

I don't agree with you on this. Even if Igbos dominate you it will never be as bad as it is now. You must be given a space to control what you have and contribute what is agreed to the center. Now, you have nothing other than the paltry 13% derivation with massive environmental degradation. Secondly, you don't need to travel thousands of kilometers to clear your goods in Lagos and make embassy appointments in Abuja. The distance would have been Enugu or PH or Calabar...Also you will have no fear of herdsmen attacking your communities. I can count hundreds of reasons why you are wrong.

What building picture is that.......

Natural resources doesn't make a country great we have been through that already. ... human resources do....

Its not just human resources then again.... we look at neighbouring aggression. ... just like palestine and israel ...... Eritrea and Ethiopia. ... South Sudan and Sudan.......
Minority suppression
