A boat capsize occurred in Ikorodu area of Lagos state yesterday Saturday June 29th. A pregnant woman has been reported dead while 16 others are missing following the boat mishap.

According to reports, the Lagos boat which was transiting from Badore to Egbin in Ijede Ikorodu, capsize d at about 10pm.

In November last year, three dead were reported dead and 19 others resuced after a boat capsized in Ibru Jetty waterfront in Lagos state. About 22 passengers had reportedly boarded the boat from the Liverpool Jetty to the Ojo waterside, but midway into the journey, the boat had a head-on collision with another.

Chiiiiiiiiiiiii what a tragedy

The passengers didn't wear life jackets but the rescue team wore life jackets.
Accidents like this happens when there is no law governing the water ways.
Imagine 16 passengers are still missing. Who knows? they must have drowned. Safety first.

They won't come out and protest. They won't hold government accountable to make things work better, if it's coza they will come out in numbers to protest instead of going to court.

I ply this route every Monday morning but I'm presently on my way(road) to my base in surulere.

What happens to giving out life jacket to passengers? For the life of me, I won't enter a boat without one. If they don't have I just don't board. If it is an area I use frequently I'd buy myself one. Most people in this country called Nigeria play with people's lives and safety. My condolences to the people who lost their lives to this tragedy. I hope victim's family get to sue the boat company for negligence.

Useless country. They are never prepared for emergency. Always running from pillar to pole when it happens.
