"I have never sought the political limelight of a leading position in my country. But I could not avoid the obligation of my birthright and destiny. My great-great-grandfather built an Empire in the Western Sudan. It has fallen to my lot to play a not inconsiderable part in building a new nation. My ancestor was chosen to lead a Holy War which set up his empire. I have been chosen by a free electorate to help build a modern state."

The fg is not setting up Ruga anywhere but one should not expect Nigerians not to misinform themselves. Many benefit from the confusion. And the fgs incompetent presentation and implementation does not help.

Fg's idea is presented here as the Livestock Transformation Development Plan. It's in no way a perfect plan but eagle eyes see the merit and opportunities.

Ranching is an opportunity for the better educated to enter the cattle business without some herdsperson bringing their disease ridden cattle on to your ranch and infecting your cattle. Nigeria needs to grow it's meat industry. When it is 21st centuryalised, meat export will easily compete with crude oil export, but not if left in the incapable herdspeople's hands!

you should focus ur meat industry to where it has comparative market advantage for the producers, and that place is the north.
dont come and site it where u will be making losses and be using FG money to do subsidy on it. we dont want it in the whole south

f" we use Kara(Abeokuta) and Kara(Ojodu Berger) as case study, Have you seen them go into expansion? No!"

I do not know about abeokuta but I know there surely is no where in ojodu berger where you have grazing reserves where you have land where Fulani rear cattle. Lagos from what I know does not have land enough for people how much more cows. Or do you mean cattle market which is quite different from the basis for the above thread.
Anyway if you feel it's ruga is the best way forward, mention your state, community here on nairaland let me and others advocate the siting of a ruga stuff in your vicinity. You will surely find your kinsmen in support.

ojodu berger is not FG initiated. so it cant be easily expanded. at least in ojodu berger there are no seperate hospitals, schools, markets ,roads etc for the fulanis.
and again they are not from mali, niger, libya etc
given the antecedents of the herdsmen, building 6 ruga settlements in every state amounts to building six foreign military barracks around you while u remain a civilian. you can be easily attacked. be wise
am happy the yorubas are now coming to terms with what the igbos have been telling them since. the chicken has finally come home to roost

Now In all fairness. Can you please share with me a more logical approach in curbing this menace if you were to be in position to combat it.

Note- Fair and logical points

the logical approach is to prosecute the killer herdsmen and ranch their cows in the north- like where the kano gov gave them. the north has about 75% of the landmass of nigeria.
please they should leave our poto poto region for us. remember that we are only 5% percenters

I dont know why some people talk like fools . How can be asking government supporting importation. All traders in Alaba , Onitsha, Bodija, are all into importations.
If you want government intervention, you go into farming.

Mumu, importation is not a death sentence. There is no country in the world that does not import one product or the other. Ban all forms of importation including foreign medical care, overseas education, foreign made cars, computers, machinery and see how miserable Nigeria will become. Importation also does not stop you from being productive, and who told you is the silver bullet that will solve all Nigeria's problem. Did anyone tell you we don't farm enough in the country? Over half the population is involved in agriculture, has it made food cheaper. Before you talk, THINK

This Ruga settlement issue is just one of the many acts of injustice the federal government exhibits on a daily basis. The Buhari government openly displays ethnic and tribalistic bias in favor of the fulani ethnic group while claiming to fight corruption. It is time we let this government know that trying take up lands for fulanis all over the country is the worst form of corruption Nigeria has ever witnessed!

You can read an article I wrote on this in the link below:

Justice, the surest way to peace! Our nation is troubled today because of injustice. No diplomacy for peace will work if we do not fix the injustice in our society.u.We need justice to have peace! Read more here...http://geraldinyang..com.ng/2017/11/peace-wanted-justice-needed_7.html?m=1

let me ask you a question!! Why now The Fulani's did not start reading cattles in Nigeria last year, so why now "EXPANSION" that's the only thing that comes to mind..... As far as other solutions to this problem goes, they should go Bvn to the north were they have always been and if it's grass that's their problem, the revenue that would be used to finance geh ruga project should be used in finding a way to make grass grow in the north!!!!! Gbam I rest my case.... See my own point is that more harm is gonna come from this than good

For the fools who don't know yet, this is exactly what Buhari is planning. He wants to plant the Fulanis all over the country to prepare for the eventual take over of Nigeria. This should not be allowed anywhere in Nigeria.

Imagine Fulani herdsmen having settlements in every state in Nigeria, Boko Haram now can easily infiltrate anywhere in Nigeria!!!!!! Choi Omo Nigeria is going small small!!! Make we protest ooooo..... More harm is going to come from this than good

This will, and should lead to civil war and eventual breakup of Nigeria.

They should establish one in your hometown then.

I told a friend of mine who always supports everything PMB does & is also an advocate for giving lands to herdsmen that I read that his state governor had agreed to site a Ruga settlement in his town.

My friend immediately flew into a tantrum & started cursing his governor. It was when he started making calls that I told him I was kidding.

When he calmed down, I now asked him why he won't want the Ruga settlements he supports to be sited in his town. He said the herdsmen have wahala & cited the environmental hazards & other challenges...

But this same guy would go online & vehemently defend this same policy that he doesn't want in his home town...

Is that not hypocrisy?
