Okoroawusa failed woefully in his 8yrs in office. Roads all over the state are dilapidated and in shambles despite the massive debt incurred by this fat limping one legged bastard.

Ihedioha will not kill himself but he will try his best at least to recover what okoroawusa looted from the state

Each serve different purpose. The ones used by Okorocha is ornamental trees while the ones that produce oil are cash crops. They serve different purposes as one is simply for decoration and used where immediate aesthetics is required as Okorocha did in Owerri even though he also planted live trees and grasses to green up the environment.

My point remains that Okorocha will always be the backbone of development in Imo State and that is why Ihedioha does not know where to start from. He does not want to accept the reality staring him right in the face that Okorocha has laid an irreversible foundation for him to build upon to the glory of both him and Okorocha. He is looking for every possible means to deny this truth but it is absolutely impossible hence his inability to continue where Okorocha stopped.

Aba, it's ok.

This is Los Angeles.

They used the cash crop to beautify AND enrich their street (remember, trees reduce pollution and clean air)

Are you comparing this to what you saw Okorocha did in Owerri

Even if you must import a fake palm tree into Nigeria in an oasis of palm trees, why import such sickly looking ones?

There are ornamental palm trees available, they hardly grow any fruit and are used mainly for beautification. Why Rochas started mounting fake trees is what I don't understand.

Come ooo.

In Okigwe, Mbaise and the main the main in Ogboko, Okorocha used style and built the first grand edifices for Imo state university (IMSU). IMSU never had edifices because it got embroiled in permanent location hiatuses since IMSU was wrongly established at the heart of Owerri by then gov Evan Enwerem from Owerri more than 20 years ago.

Enwerem blindly ignored zoning but temporarily located IMSU in the same Owerri area where FUTO, Federal Poly and Alvan federal college that runs many university degree programmes are located.

Okorocha registered the three campuses in Okigwe, Mbaise and Ogboko with University Commission as govt owned.

What is gov Ihedioha waiting for before he proclaims the three beautiful campuses for new IMSU?
Inquiry? For what?

Okorocha planted all types of trees which are at various stages of growth including our own Nigerian palm trees but the artificial ones serve the purpose of immediate beautification while awaiting the growth of the natural ones.

this is the only time I am seeing good comment coming from you. The facility in Okigwe should serve as Imo state University of engineering as was meant to be. Then Ihedioha should liaise with the real owners of the Ogboko facilities and convert it to Imo state University with an agreement to be run under the platform of PPP. Thank God you have come to the reality that Rochas built edifice for the three campuses and distributed development evenly to the three zones of the state unlike his counterpart, Sen. Evans Enwerem.

that doesn't make sense, you can move a tree from one location to another. If he's impatient he should have gone to his own village and brought in full grown trees for Owerri.

Don't assume that Okorocha was ignorant of the Code of Conduct Bureau provision. The provision forbids an elected political office holder, like state governor or president, to use his office to advance his private business, or use his office for financial advantage of his friends or business partners.

Okorocha govt acquired the lands of Eastern Palm University Ogboko.

Owners of the land gave up their lands after they were convinced by Imo state government that the land would be used to build a campus of IMSU, not a private university or PPP university they know shall not benefit their environment.

Imo state govt started to build the university in the name of IMSU.

Then suddenly, greedy landlords in Owerri who eat fat from charging high rents on the close to 150, 000 students and staff of the three universities and two polytechnics around Owerri started to petition against Okorocha that he was taking their university in Owerri to his village in Ogboko.

Imo state government continued to build the university till what it is today.
But tried to outsmart the petition writers by calling the university - Imo European University.
Imo state House of Assembly legislated the University as Imo state government University.

The unofficial PPP thing brought at last as ownership of the university is a mere diversion. In fact, any private sector man who comes forward as owner of the so-called 90% share in Eastern Palm University risks jail term. No body shall come, of course.

Ownership of Eastern Palm University Ogboko Re-Opens As Okorocha’s New Varsities Get Probe Committee

With the constitution of a Committee to investigate the status of the newly established tertiary institutions in Imo State, by Governor Emeka Ihedioha, the coast is now clear to the look into the cloud surrounding the Eastern Palm University located at Ogboko, the home of the immediate past governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

The Committee to look into the newly created Universities in Imo State is headed by a former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO, and one time Commissioner in Imo State, Prof Jude Njoku, with Dr Mrs Uche Moneke as Secretary.

Others in the Committee are Prof Fr Phillip Ogbonna, Prof NA Okereke, Prof I. C Ogbonna, Prof INS Dozie and Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie.

The Committee which would be inaugurated today at Government House, Owerri, has the task to investigate the status of all the seven Universities established by the past administration at its twilight, especially the Eastern Palm University that has genered controversy since its establishment.

The Eastern Palm University, which the former Governor cited in his village at Ogboko, in Ideato South LGA, was established as the permanent site of Imo University that has its campus in Owerri.

Okorocha then told Imo people that immediately the University was completed, IMSU would be relocated from Owerri to Ogboko, which led to uproar in the entire State as the people of Owerri zone revolted against such plan by Okorocha.

While this argument dominated the air waves and landscape of Imo State, Okorocha went on with the project morning and night.

However, as the project was nearing compeleting Okorocha one day announced to a surprised Imo populace, that IMSU would remain at its site in Owerri, while the gigantic University site completed in Ogboko has been renamed European University.

While a majority of Owerri people felt good that at last IMSU remained in Owerri, but many asked what the Ogboko site would be used for since it was built with Imo State money.

As Okorocha’s regime lasted from four years to eight, he kept changing the name of the structures in Ogboko until he suddenly named it Eastern Palm University, owned 90% by a Non-Governmental Organization NGO, with Imo State owning 10%, according to reports.

This was the situation, until Okorocha vacated office a few months ago, and Imo House of Assembly proposed to Okorocha’s successor, Governor Emeka Ihedioha to investigate the true story of the Eastern Palm University.

Therefore, with the Prof Jude Njoku Committee coming to life today, there is joy in the air that at last Imo people will know who truly own Eastern Palm University, and whose money was used to build the gigantic first class structures in Ogboko village early called Imo State University, changed to European University until it finally became Eastern Palm University.

you are talking absolutely trash. Let's face reality here, Okorocha regime is over let face the current administration and what it has to offer. Okorocha has done his part and he did well, no amount of blackmail will deny him that. Imo was better under Okorocha. Travel to Imo and see for yourself.

So leave this your tree this, tree that. Let the current administration replace all of them with more suitable ones. By the way Okorocha left money in the Imo treasury, so finance will not be the problem.

this is not how governance, or participation in the human race, works. You don't (outside of Nigeria) give someone kudos for pretending the past didn't happen. You don't celebrate people who can't factor the past into the present and future. This is how Buhari overthrew the government, beat people maliciously, participated in genocide, declare live long commitment to Sharia law, and violently challenged any election that didn't support him, and Nigeria took their freewill and imposed the same man on themselves because that was 'then' and this is 'now'.

So no, nobody is going to leave Okorocha alone if he hasn't faced justice (that's what the law is for), and if his legacy gets in the way of people's lives. Many are still trying to rebuild their lives and families from almost a decade of unpaid salaries. Which if you didn't know, is slavery.

You obviously like him, but that's not going to stop anyone from thinking like a human being.

GOV. IHEDIOHA TOURS IDEATO SOUTH POWER STATION

His Excellency, Governor Emeka Ihedioha today, Tuesday, July 2, 2019 arrived Ishieke in Ideato South LGA for an assessment tour of the power sub-station located in the area.

The Governor who was accompanied by his Deputy, Hon. Gerald Irona amongst other key government officials saw the contractor of the project which has earlier been abandoned return to site.

The Governor noted that the visit was born out of the State Government’s desire and seriousness to get the substation functional as soon as possible. He also charged the Local Government Interim Committee Chairman to ensure that the road leading to the site is given a facelift within the next one week.

Following the Governor's intervention the expected time of the project completion is slated for December 2019. This will change the over 20 years story of a people living without public power supply.

I was in Obowo today to Visit the Divisional Police Headquarters set ablaze by irate youths of the area who had a misunderstanding with a police officer leading to the death of a young man, Ikenna Ukachi.

I have charged the security agencies to fish out the hoodlums who set the Headquarters ablaze and made away with arms and ammunitions. The officer who provoked the incident must also be brought to book.

Under no circumstances should a police officer who is supposed to safe guard the lives of the citizenry kill. The job of the police force is to protect the community and maintain peace and order. We must respect the sanctity of human life.

To the youths, I maintain that breaking into police strong room is a criminal offence and the culprits must be identitied and charged.

I sympathize with the family of Ikenna Ukachi, while assuring them that the State Government will stand solidly with them in this trying period by ensuring that this incident is investigated and resolved.

The Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, CON, was at the Orashi/Mgbe-Umuchima Road, today to have an on the spot assessment of the situation at the Orashi Bridge axis which has collapsed completely.

The road serves as a major link road between Imo State and Anambra State, linking Ideato Nation and other parts of Orlu Zone.

According to the traditional ruler who spoke during the visit, HRH Eze G. Isiala, the Chairman of Ideato South Council of Traditional Rulers, “It is unbelievable that a structure like this could have been built without reinforcements. Therefore we solicit for your assistance.”

The Governor promised to get the ministry of works to take proper assessment of the place, while seeking the support of the federal government to ensure that immediate attention is given to the road.

Uncle, I can NEVER accept that Rochas is a failure.

He has done his bit - even though it was not good enough - he brought some positive things to Imo State.

That said, just focus on what Ihedioha is bringing aboard.

Change of government and consolidating the gains of one's predecessor are the finer parts of democratic government.

Some people will still come and add this one as Okorocha's achievement lol. Why waste available public funds on projects that will not last decades? This is the fear I've always gotten about Okorocha's works, that when he leaves office, the incoming governor will have to start reconstructing his predecessor's projects because, his predecessor did a bad substandard work as in the case of Imo state today.

You can just imagine? Instead of Ihedioha to kick start new projects, he has no choice than to revisit the substandard projects of his predecessor. Okorocha must account for the money he wasted on all these substandard projects he built.
