Has anybody from the defunct western region of Nigeria ever read deeply about the so-called Tiv riot of 1964?

Operation Safe Haven: Group reacts to Agundu’s appointment, Atolagbe’s removal as Commander
ON JULY 26, 201812:20 PMIN NEWSBY TONYCOMMENTS

A civil society group, the Plateau Peace and Good Governance Watch, has reacted to the alleged removal of Major General Anthony Atolagbe and appointment of Major General Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu as the Commander of Operation Safe Haven by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin.

Army deploys troops to Benue, 5 other states
The group said, in a statement, that Olonisakin had, following the continued attacks in Plateau state that led to death of scores of Nigerians, removed Atolagbe and subsequently replaced him with Major General Agundu as the new Commander.

It said it received with satisfaction the appointment of Agundu, saying the new commander will bring his experience to curtail criminality in Plateau axis.

It therefore commended the decision of the Defence Headquarters in this regard, saying more lives would now better be secure with the expertise of the new commander.

Rev. Ezra Samuel, National Co-ordinator of the group, in the statement, said the removal of Major General Atolagbe and appointment of Agundu was long overdue.

Samuel said, “Contrary to the news making the rounds, Atologbe was removed over his failure to address the recent crisis that resulted in loss of lives in Plateau line with laid down protocols.

“The Plateau Peace and Good Governance Watch urges Nigerians to discountenance any insinuation that Atolagbe was removed for any reason other than his handling of the crisis in Plateau state.

He therefore advised the new Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu, to avoid the apparent failings of his predecessor in the discharge of his duties.

“He should distance himself from ethnic sympathies that could becloud judgment and taint professional reputation,” the statement added.

I googled it as requested and this is my finds, that:
1, this even took place last year, July 2018 precisely and I still want to know the reason is just coming out now...
2. Till u provide an evidence, I still believe the allegation is false because it was even a civil society group that was justifying his removal
3. I did not read anyehere, the word sack, only I read removal and replacement
4. Lets stop Hate and embrace way forward. PDP and their benefiaroes are losers.
Don't empathise with them unnecessarily, they killed us bad while in power, a typical example of a pdp man was that show of shame that took place in that sexx toy shop story, believe it or move on...

If Ahmadu Bello had to use Lt Col James Pam, a Birom, to torture and kill Tiv people in UMBC during political unrest in 1964, what stops Buhari from using the so-called Plateau Peace and Good Governance Watch to do the biding for Fulani's agenda to Islamize Nigeria?

I really do not understand Buhari. Nigeria is not Fulani's property. We all are Nigerians. How can every talk be about Fulani and cows?

Buhari will end up splitting this country without gin shots

It's false statement... Check the post above yours pls

Many Nigerians have IQ as low as those of goats. Why on earth will you believe anything without adequate evidence? It appears rationality has no place in us anymore.

keep suspecting lies unril we all burn. Sometime back in the same Plateau, a police doing saw a herdman with a gun. He confiscated the gun and the herdsman left. About 15 minutes later he received a call and was ordered to return the rifle back to the herdsman. The Fulani man came back and collected his gun. Anything is possible

Nigeria is not a zoo but an Animal Farm where some are greater than others. it is another feather to the growing dominance of the Fulani. Remember, sometimes in Benue, when the Fulani killed over a 100 people in one kick, till today no single arrest has been made. but when the people revenged, they were arrested. In fact, till now, no news of their arraignment or release.

The Fulanization is here
I see Nigeria beyond Fulanization. What Bihari wanted to initiate could lead to his raze being wiped out in ethnic cleansing when all other oppressed ethnic groups would be reacting. It may not be in his life time. Should Nigeria break up today, do you believe Yoruba will not oust Fulani our of Ilorin? I doubt it.

I hate it when people talk like this, allegation without any traceable evidence. Well, I don't blame you for sending in this kind of comment to public domain, it is because of what Nigerian society looks like, this is what 80% of a people in nigeria want to hear and I hope u are not disappointed that I don't belong to that group...

By the time others wake up to the Fulani challenge I hope the settlements don't work against them.

1. Nobody said it took place today. When it happened didn't change the fact that it did happen. Senator Abbo assaulted a lady back in may but he is answering for it today.

2. What you call evidence depends on what you chose to believe. Even a video evidence will mean nothing to you when your mind is made up Just like you ignored the google search result here:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/dailypost.ng/2018/07/25/reverse-transfer-military-task-force-commander-plateau-adp-tells-buhari/amp/
Which is higher up in the result that showed Plateau group protesting Atolagbe's removal but instead chose the one about a possibly sponsored group in guise of civil society hailing his removal.

The question you should ask yourself is who will rejoice in the removal of an army commander who do not have ANY human rights violations or petitions against him.

Was there any petition against him by the "civil society" prior to his removal? Why are then are they rejoicing.

3. At the end of the day it's always about PDP and APC for you guys. Even when people's lives are at stake. It doesn't matter as long as your party member is not shamed.
You just cited senator Abbo's case out of nowhere. The same man first condemned by his party people. Even the man who sponsored him did not spare him.
Can you say the same for Ganduje? Adeosun? Others?

You guys are a shame to humanity.

I was reading and enjoying your article until I stumble on the bold. Dem de talk you come bring Yoruba. It will rather be the reverse. Mind you, the Fulani have installed a king in Lagos (though they disguise the name) from where it will liaise with the Emir of Illorin to collapse the traditional leadership of the Yoruba. Also take note that most of the Yoruba Obas are muslims by faith. By this you understand how they can be hoodwinked.

You started decently but ended with the animal in you, how dare you address a stranger with words like 'shame to humanity' ? Anyway, I won't let that debar me from responding to your comment, as much as I know that u r also a human being.
Firstly, I requested for evidence so as to know the truth and we won't be misguided in making decision nor taking stand on this particular issue, regardless of any affiliation or assumption.
The reason abbos and pdp came in the picture was that the primary poster of that post is a pdp loyalist and as much as I'm concerned, I don't trust any politician for his or her words, rather, I take the other side or do research if I can. And finding out that the case happened last year and he presented to look like fresh case was a source of strength for me to make a default decision (if you like trust typical Nigerian politician).
Referencing adp in your link still make me indifferent because it's still a political party and you know I mentioned that I don't trust them initially. The reason I prefer the report of that civil society group either bought or rented....
Before you walk out of the door, listen; I'm not a politician and I don't belong to a political party, in cases like this, I prefer it to come from a genuine source and origin.

Lie, I schooled in Ilorin when the tension to take over the Emirate was so real and agitation was strong by the descendants of Afonja. Sha'aba Lafiaji and Babangida used governmental power to suppress them. These are Muslims. During Obasanjo's regime, if allowed, OPC lead by their factional leader, Gani Adam, a Muslim wanted to go and wrest power from the Fulanis. The current Chief Imam of Ilorin was exciting youths and OPC leader, Kwara chapter to fight. So, I don't think the case is buried and forgotten over hundred years after, I don't believe Ilorin will be an extension of Fulani kingdom in the heart of Yoruba kingdom.
