If you think the oba can order Oshiomhole and Obaseki to order, you're gravely mistaken. If he intervenes directly like that and the fight continues (which it likely will), he will lose his respect. He knows this, that's why he's intervening indirectly like this. This is the best he can do.

What does it matter if a king sleeps all day while his empire is still growing out there without making it to look like a sport show which is clearly outlawed in today's politics? I don't see anything wrong with the king who is a central host in his own domain with the reserved ability to settle issues do so without getting seen trying to hobnob with higher political powers... They are already seen as people who have conquered and resting having become king but this one looks like trying to do stuff by himself as if it is a difficult task or as somebody involved in a war campaign to grab more lands or rights...
