moringa is everyone (all the northern state) it's called zogole in Hausa. The seed is also medicinal and best alternative for Viagra at least for me.

the article is contradictory.

first there are over 100 Million cases per annum

second about 71% without malaria antigen are wasting money

question?
is it the remaining 29% that make up 100 Million?

iI don't blame most of we Nigerians especially the less average ones who have no access to health care facilities. but could only have access to to the local unqualified and un registered drug stores where cheap unidentified drugs are bought cheaply by them. govt hospitals around are not in the biz of giving free drug to such patient still we buy dis drugs. very expensive. so they engage on dis stores. to buy dis drugs. without passing through test.

Malaria can actually be eradicated in Nigeria but if they do that who will buy the multi billion dollar malaria drugs meant for Nigeria market.
Just like recently Americans discovered that Pfizer has discovered a cure for Alzheimer's disease but refused to release it to the public, they released just a mixture that sufferers will continue to use to feel good.

The cure for HIV is also around but HIV management is a cash cow for western NGOs and even the UN. If they provide the cure they lose travelling and income from anti retroviral drugs angry

NHIS former Executive Director stated that patients under the scheme are given malaria drugs even when they dont know that the cause of their constant headache is simply dehydration, even when the treatment should have been just an advise from the GP for them to drink more fluid and take a rest and they will be fine but they will be asked to undergo lab tests which will always show malaria parasite for ALL patients that took the lab test.
Can you confirm the veracity of your post?

Self medication no doubt increases resistance to treatment and the one that is worse is when the malaria is resistant, they convert it to typhoid. angry

Malaria infection is caused by the protozoa known as plasmodium vivax or plasmodium falsiparum while typhoid is caused by the bacteria salmonella typhi.
They are both not related in any way..
Pls be properly guided.

It's about self-medication and its bad effects. Many who have a fever and self-medicate with malaria drugs may not even have malaria fever (there are other causes of fever).
The article also talks about use of substandard drugs and the need for a proper diagnosis (through tests) before treatment of malaria.

How"ve you been?

The moment you have fever and headache, antimalarial drug straight. Blood tests are required.

Using drugs improperly leads to resistant microbes

Also sometimes the wrong diagnosis means malaria is being treated when the ailment is typhoid. This happened to a friend in boarding school. We were all worried and all the time it was incompetent school nurses giving him wrong medication

Share your story bro?
This is my story: I had symptoms I guessed was malaria self diagnosis wrong move now I know better I went to the best pharmacy I know in town thinking that would save me from the menace of fake drug induced had forgotten I was still in Nigeria.
Getting to the drug store I approached there in house pharmacist to write prescription for me that I had malaria that is there policy thinking I was in safe hands and since he is a qualified pharmacist I didn't envisage any problem.
The guy prescribed two anti malaria drugs for me saying I should use it all at once that it was the best way they treated malaria that it prevents recurrences bla bla bla. I got home used the combination of drugs after eating thinking my malaria ordeal was over I never knew it was the beginning of some strange experiences, two hours after ingesting those drugs I knew something was wrong but I managed to sleep thinking when I wake up my ordeal was over.
Waking up in the morning I started having headaches the worst in my life extreme temperatures tiredness the bad feelings was just overwhelming I had to be taken to a hospital and the doctor confirmed I was reacting to a drug I can't lie during ordeal like this you remember all the details of your life in a flash I thank God for his mercies on me.
My conclusion is taking all drugs is a risk but taking fake drugs is riskier this life is a gift truly you have to be in a near death experience to truly understand and I have since developed a phobia for malaria drugs

I perfectly understand you bro.
If we combine the side effects of drugs and the fact that one might react to any chemical composition of them.

I fear we wouldn't ever want to take them even in the face of illness. Life is indeed a flash.

Using those Rapid Testing Devices can cause problems cos of its poor sensitivity. The gold standard for malaria diagnosis remains Microscopy and in case u can afford it, DNA testing. If d study based their findings on the results of RDTs, I make bold to say that they are wrong. The Kits work by detection of Histidine-rich proteins produced by plasmodium and these can only be detected when parasitemia is high. A good doctor will not rely on a negative RDT result.

This is why it is good to always seek the services of healthcare professionals. Some of these professionals like pharmacists don't even charge you money to talk to them, but Nigerians would rather resort to self medication!

The right thing is, if you are seek, see your doctor. But when you feel you can't afford to pay consultation fee or when a doctor is not handy, at least see a pharmacist! Trained pharmacists would help to conserve your money because they know when taking a drug is necessary and the best type of drugs to give the best outcomes! They also know when it is sacrosanct to see a physician and they'll refer you accordingly.
