Taraba state Governor, Darius Ishaku has signed into law, capital punishment for kidnappers in the state’s latest anti-kidnapping act.

On Wednesday, Ishaku signed the bill into law, in Jalingo, after the state Assembly passed the Act after its third reading.

The new law states that anyone convicted of kidnapping would be sentenced to death.

The bill originally sponsored by Peter Abel Diah, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, was supported unanimously by members of the house.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, said, “The law is intended to help contain kidnapping which is today a major concern in Taraba.

“Under the new law, anyone found guilty of abduction or kidnapping in the state will pay the supreme price for it.

“The law is a product of government’s concern about insecurity in the state, particularly, kidnapping for money which is rampant in the state and other parts of the country.”

Brainnews can vividly recall that President Buhari, while delivering his address at the fourth convocation of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina state, stated that the era of banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency in Nigeria will end soon.

Death sentence is too easy. They should be dragged by a horse over a very rocky area of land for an hour or ten and then face death by handing.

I totally support the government of Taraba State on this one. Other States should do the same. What annoys me about kidnappers is that the politicians stealing our collective wealth are not being kidnapped. It is innocent and struggling Nigerians that are suffering in their hands.

It's a good development. Anybody who attempts kidnapping should be brought to book and face the music.

Are you a kidnapper , your post is baffling indeed. Kidnappers are generally killers and you want them sentenced to six months jail term so that they can get out and enjoy their loot.

Death sentence for corrupt politicians will do a lot better than this one.it is corruption that begate Kidnapping,Arm bandit, leg bandit, bokoharam, herbsmen, unknown gunmen and all.if one senator is killed as a result of capital punishment i tell you everything will become better in nigeria

What if they conspired and blame an innocent person?

Before creating a law, make sure the innocent doesn't get affected.

They can imperile someone.

I see illegal arrest. Let the police not arrest an innocent youth and tags him a "kidnapper or a suspected kidnapper "
