What is the mischief in reporting that IGP meets with a criminal citizen? The mischief is in the IGP action. The credibility of his office is on the line when he allows a criminal access into his immediate environment. This is possible because there is no consequence. If he knew he could be fired for such act he would keep distance from the criminal Abbo.
I laughed so hard at this your mumu post. You are asking who exactly what a police officer is doing with a criminal in the office of another??

This was before the man was sworn in as senator.
The question this IGP should answer is if its even appropriate for him to be having any private chat with the Abbo at that office without the governor he went to pay an official visit with being around?
This rebuttal leaves more questions than answers.
You are deviating. Radarada. If you insist on asking this question, book an appointment with IGP.

Sen. Abbo did not commit a criminal offence. This is rather a civil one. And nothing stops the IG from talking with people in the country. Moreover, the man hadn't committed an offence as at then.

Too many fake news everywhere you go in Nigeria.
And to think some persons were already castigating the IGP.

Some where even saying the man should have been handcuffed.

Question is.... Did he steal?

Even if two people fight on the street, the bail is #5,000

This goes to show that this Senator may have some very powerful/influential godfathers.

For him to have been in El-rufai's office, at a time when crucial security challenges were to be discussed with the IGP,
and for him to have also been involved in the Ekiti elections...ah ah...

This explains why he had the effrontery to assault a civilian like himself.

Did anyone notice what else he did (in the CCTV video)?
He threatened that he was going to make sure he shuts down Kemi's sextoyshop for "insulting" him.

He began to make phone calls to tax agents, telling them to start looking through the tax documents of the shop and so on.
This is all captured in that CCTV video.

As soon as the police officer walked in, he stood up to say...
"This is Kemi, she is my friend, i do not have any problem with her, but she insulted me.
She said I am stupid, and drunk"

He wanted Kemi to spend the night in the station writing a statement.
He then said he would attend to her matter the following Monday when he would be visiting the station.

Can you imagine how wicked.

As he went on and on, he expected Kemi to start rolling on the floor begging him for mercy.
To his disappointment, Kemi was on a phone call to her father. In his opinion, Kemi was trying to show she also had connection.

So he commanded..."Put the phone down when I am talking...bla bla bla". Then his police officer tried to enforce that command.

As soon as Kemi's friend said "ah pls take it easy", the sexator became infuriated, he saw this as an even bigger insult for a bloody civilian to try to stop his police from obeying his own mighty command..

He went straight to her and pushed her face, and screamed..."what is wrong with you? " "I should be gentle with who?" " is it your business? " " Are you mad".....slap again, "arrest her"...slap again......"are you mad"....blabla

PLEASE, Fellow Nigerians,

Do not accept the fake apology from the senator. He represents the oppressive class. The "Do you know who I am?" class

He represents the reason why our police are corrupt. He represents the reason why poor people never get justice.

According to his former official photographer, the man maltreated him and beat him up so bad, instructed his police escorts to shoot him, but one of them was kind enough to hand him over to the DPO. The DPO tok pity on him and gave him some money for transport home. According to the photographer, the DPO was powerless over the Sexator because of his very powerful connections.

Ever wonder why the presidency is very quiet on this matter. Even the first lady Aisha who is also from Adamawa and who ought to speak out for women.
Bravo!

You have said all that needs to be said on this matter!

It is laudable that Nigerians are beginning to realize the power in social media. It is not just an avenue for slaying. Social justice can be achieved through it. The errant organizations have been feeling the heat lately.

Kudos to Nigerians!

This piece just made me to reason in additional direction: he was on drug when he committed that crime.
With this, ndlea should step in for further investigation and eventually, 2 counts against him already; battery and drug abuse.

I doubt if you ever read the post before you jumped into making this comment. Perhaps, it is in your bid to be first to comment or make the first page. If none of these is the case, then this comment of yours casts a serious doubt on your reasoning capability or comprehensive capacity.

The press release says the meeting between the IG took place in April long before the man's nefarious act became a public knowledge. The video was released on July 2. The online medium that released the video reported that the incident took place on May 11. The man himself claims that it happened in March. From both claims, it is obvious that the Police IG and members of the public(including you) had got no knowledge of the Senator's criminal act as at the time he and the IG met. And it was even a contact that took place in another person's office during a public event.

How the idea came to you that the IG was meeting with a "criminal citizen" he hadn't known had ever committed any infraction of the law as at the time they met is baffling to a reasonable mind. You even went ahead to state that the IG "allows a criminal access into his immediate environment" when the report says that the contact took place inside Kaduna State Governor's office! Which immediate environment?!

This is a serious gaffe on your part. When you want to criticize, please learn to do reasonably and constructively based upon informed ground. Anything other than that, you will always end up goofing and off-point as you have done here.

With due respect, you are not correct. It is absolutely a criminal offence. Nothing civil there at all. A person physically manhandling another person is an offence. In Criminal Law, it is called assault and battery. Where such physical act results in injury or harm, it is categorised as Assault Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm. Infact, the offender can even be charged for Attempted Murder, depending upon the degree of injury.

And for your information, he had committed the offence as at the time, according to his own side of the story. He said the incident occurred sometime in March.

The Nigerian Police Force has reacted to the trending picture of Senator Elisha Abbo and the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed.

Igbere TV reports that Senator Abbo has been in the news for slapping a nursing mother mercilessly.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Thursday, the police said the picture was taken in Governor El-Rufai’s office when the IGP paid the Governor a courtesy visit during a Security meeting with the Northern Traditional Rulers in Kaduna on April 30th, 2019.

The statement reads;

"The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a picture of Senator Abbo Elisha purportedly having a conversation with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni."

"Needless to state that the picture was taken in Governor El-Rufai’s office when the IGP paid the Governor a courtesy visit during a Security meeting with the Northern Traditional Rulers in Kaduna on April 30th, 2019."

"Whatever maybe the motive behind the display of the picture at the time when the Senator is under investigation, be it known that the IGP, a public servant, interacts with every Nigerian, irrespective of their status, political leaning, tribe or religion, etc in the course of discharging his duties as the number one Cop of the Nation."

"The public should therefore disregard the obviously mischievous intentions of the author of the post."
