For a start, the ranch, which is being managed by a South African expert in conjunction with International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, has 1,500 cattle sourced locally. The farm is being run with the technical direction of foreign Technical Partners from Zambia and South Africa.According to the Governor, 30 foreign species of cattle called the Zambian Boran, would be introduced to the ranch with a view to genetically crossbreeding them with local ones to get new indigenous species.

When fully in operation, the ranch, which will be run on public private partnership basis, will have modern abattoir that offers services to the people at a lower rate.

At the commissioning of the Osun Beef Production outfit (O’Beef) ranch located at Oloba Farm Settlement in Iwo, he said it was primarily targeted at boosting agriculture, meat and food production, food processing and mass agro-based employment. It is also part of a plan to assist livestock farmers to improve milk and meat production, saying, plans are afoot to establish similar but lager ranches in Ede (400 hectares) and Ejigbo (1,000 hectares). Land has been acquired for this purpose and the location would have grazing reserves and cattle hub – including markets, feed mills. The grazing reserves will help us to tackle the recurring feud between the Fulani pastoralists and the crop farmers usually caused as a result of cattle grazing on farms.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the weekend launched a cattle ranch where a new agro-based industry is emerging. The 78.8 hectares, 10,000-capacity cattle ranch is aimed at meeting the beef demand of the State of Osun as well as the entire South-West when fully

The Osun state government has concluded arrangements to provide about 648 healthy rams for the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir festival.

The Osun state government has concluded arrangements to provide about 648 healthy rams for the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir festival.
The programme, tagged 'O'RAM' and done through the Selema Oloba Ranch, Iwo, raises highly fattened rams breed and vaccinated within two months.

According to the Managing Director of Selema Oloba Ranch, Sola Omidiran, the 648 rams breed in the ranch were acquired from various parts of Nigeria's northern region.

He explained that during the fattening period, animals add 15kg more weight to their system, enhancing their capacity and body shape to provide more beef to consumers.

Omidiran noted that in line with the government's quest to generate revenue for the state, the company has attracted partnerships with a wide range of leading online stores to ensure adequate marketing for its animals.

He said, "In a bid to enhance our marketing strategies, we have gone to partner with varying online stores with our website, or online sites like Jumia, Ebeano Supermaket, Red and Green Butchery and Lekki Farms.

"With all what we are doing, we can assure you that we will give you value for money. There will be nowhere else you will find rams that are of good quality like these other than the Selema Farms
.

"We have animals in four different categories that are going for different prices that are for sale. We have the Bronze category of about 25-30kg for about N45,000; the Silva Category of 31-36kg for N60,000; Gold category of 37-43kg for N70,000 and the Platinum of 44-50kg for N80,000."

Aside the rams, Omidina added that there are also goats, cattles as well as tomatoes, onions, pepper and the rest as part of the Fresh products under the Selema Farms Fresh category.

It will be recalled that the O'Rams and Livestock project is part of the various sectors of the Osun Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Programme O'REAP, a cardinal point of Governor Rauf Aregbesola's six-point integral action plan.

WAMCO (Peak milk) has an arrangement to collect fresh milk there for their factory.

Aregbesola is a visionary.

The SW witnessed the first TV station, first modern stadium, first skyscraper, first industrial estates, all before independence and before joining Nigeria, but all that stopped after the SW joined Nigeria.

Awolowo as the premier of the Western Region saw the importance of ranching and livestock farming so he set up ranches in Ondo and Oyo state and stocked them with the best cattle from Argentina.

Nigeria is bad business for the SW because the SW should be the greatest country in Black Africa today.

Today, the whole country is in turmoil over Ruga and Ranching, governors are bickering and moaning over decisions if to establish Ruga or Ranches, but Aregbesola without fanfare created many and sent young men and women from his state to sturdy advanced animal husbandry in Germany, the young men and women like you are back in Nigeria running and managing the Ranches, that is vision, the kind of vision your own governor and the other governors fighting over Ruga didn't have.

He had vision, he saw the drama you are going through in Nigeria today over Ruga and he did something about

Aregbesola achieved more than all the governors in Nigeria, including the one in your state.

This is what is killing us in this country, bragado all hat and no cattle cowboy.

See all the propaganda, training and social media advert. Somebody once asked me why do Nigerians celebrating during commissioning of roads, farms, now pig and cattle. Celebrate in the middle before competition and after with little to show

Has Raufu been able to sustain Osun not to mention Lagos and the West or South?

Time and Time again, seed money and the projects disappeared. I thought someone would show us how the project has multiplied to become source of income for Osun. No they did not even pay salary.

O-Beef ko, where is the beef ni.

BTW, has Kwara been able to feed Nigeria after all the grants and loans to Zimbabwe white farmers?

This is another proprietary product for KFC Nigeria, a restaurant trading under the trademark of Yum! Restaurant International (YRI).

https://tunsinter.com/wordpress/index.php/farms-products-thigh-fillet-breast-strip

Another piece of knowledge.

KFC is an international brand in Nigeria, but do you know where they get their main raw material (Chicken) from? Osun state.

Why Osun state? Because Osun state under Aregbesola not only turned Osun state into a major poultry state but also a state with top quality products that a multi-National like KFC can rely on to supple quality product day after day.

Tuns farms in Osun is one of the largest poultry farms in Nigeria.

I didnt know we have such facilities in Osun. Aregbe did a lot more than he was credited for.

Deomelo,

This is interesting.

In a country where there are blind people, one eye man is the king. The way Raufu left Osun and the way he started are like night and day.

Mind you, I was so high on this guy when he was making this promises of feeding the South, I started the applause for him. That was how I love this guy.

If he fulfilled his promises, the Fulani would have been out of cow business in the South preventing the RAGU or Ranch problem we have today.

Moreover, he bankrupt Osun but had to pay his master Tinubu. Well, both are from the same State and Tinubu sponsored him anyway.

Let me ask you: Is Osun better off today?

This is how folks that do not know Lagos praised Tinubu to high heavens. Is Lagos better off today?

Can you imagine if Awo, Akintola, Odunjo, Ajasin and co. we're this selfish and gready, we will not be talking about many Firsts in the West.

But I do not blame their cronies, you never had it so good. Well, some of us have and we know where we were born.

My brother, you are mixing apple and oranges. Take it in piecemeal. You are the author of this thread and it focuses specifically in one area. Deomelo has responded and showed what you needed in this area. If there are other areas of performance you need to get truth on then open thread for them. Do not derail your own thread.

Tinubu, Awo, Ajasin, and all these people are distractions on a topic about cattle ranch in the administration of Aregbe.

When you see truth, acknowledge it. This is truth...Aregbe did not dissapoint, period! Everything else belongs in a different thread.

The main problem we have in Nigeria is building on what others did. How could Awo be a distraction here if those that followed left it better than they met it?

If Raufu was not a rogue like Tinubu and others that think Lagos or Osun was better off after these two rogues, why did Osun not pay salary? You see that as derailing?

MetaPhysical? You or someone hijacked your handle.

The cattle Ranches propagated could have taken Osun to the 21st century. I fail to understand why we settle for second best when we can be the best in the world.

Awo and co. are relevant here because if they were thinking like you, we would not have Western Region to rely on, we would still be dwelling on ancient history of Ghana, Mali and Songhai.

MetaPhysical, are you going to brag about today's Osun to your children?

Thank God the old pictures and videos of Lagos are now being circulated on social media for people to compare and contrast since oil income and all the vagabonds took over.

They are nothing but trolls, they start dumb and ignorant threads instead of accessing google for free education, all you need to do is type Aregbesola and ranch, bingo, you have your answer.

Their poor and wretched villages are in ruin, they are backward and their useless governors haven't commissioned anything meaning since independence, but they are ready to monitor and die over Osun and Aregbesola as if the man is responsible for the misery in their villages.
