Cancel the passport and make it valid for a 4yr maximum period.
As simple as that... but too much magana will not allow them

I am not certain why the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) should be hounding the politicians to hand over their diplomatic passport at the end of their term. To deal with issues like that is very easy...cancel them. That way when they try to use it at the airport it would bring shame upon them because they would not be allowed to travel with a canceled passport.

remove most of these benefits attached to this passport, so that they can know how bad Nigeria is

the expiry date should just be in line with their tenure in office

If Nigerian Immigration isnt daft, they will realize it is better to tie the expiry of the passport to the length of the politician's tenure. Hint, the number is between 3 and 5.
exactly

people like u way sabi book too much, need to be gateman to rich people in Nigeria. come here to Cameroon and see how life is simple here, we club together with big politicians without security, They move around freely, they don't need ur red carpets, they don't need sirens. My brother, one day Nigeria will be great, but for now, tell urself the truth, "call a spade a spade." Work together, and make ur Country a better place.

This is really simple. Since all passport works with chips, they could simply flag it and cancel it on their system thereby invalidating it.

To go extreme, Flag it with this message Apprehend the bearer of this passport at all cost if seen at the airport
You wicked oo. grin Make d foreign country arrest the idiot on behalf of Nigerian immigration.

Once one of the ex-public office holders is apprehended others would definitely do the needful.

There is no big deal in the diplomatic passport. It's not an automatic license to getting a Visa. You can still be refused visa at an embassy

If you notice, the article above kept on repeating the same points

undecided

Its easy, deactivate the passport from the database
Once a passport is issued, you can't deactivate it unless you are ready to issue another that's when you deactivate to activate base of same data

What they normally do in situations like this is called stop list

Once a passport number is on stop list, its only the airport staff that have the machine to detect it

Meanwhile, government knows what to do, but they expect them to return it themselves

Alternatively, when they comes for renewal, they will collect it from them and issued them the regular ones you and I uses

this is the solution to the problem that you have already stated. Diplomatic passports are for serving govt officials on diplomatic missions. After the expiration of their tenure/duty, they cease to become holders of such passports. Hence, there is nothing like reissue or the likes. We are still thinking like primitive people in this country. We do not need to beg them to return it, instead we should criminalise it such that continuous retention of such facilities becomes a punishable offence against the state. You will definitely see change unfortunately, this country is so corrupt so the best option will be to deactivate the passport and let the foreign countries embarrass them wherever they go
