Federal Government received a total of N253.92bn from the N616.20bn. States received a total of N168.06bn and Local Governments received N126.28bn. The sum of N46.35bn was shared among the oil-producing states as 13% derivation fund.

Each local government will get an average of 163 million naira if state government no corner their money. That is good money to pay salary and do some road rehabilitation plus other projects in each local government.

governors are so mean to local government staffs, u can hardly see a staff in the local government own a car even after over 25 years of service, the only rich staff in local government are the cashier, treasurer, DLG and the chairman himself, the rest take as low as 5k as salary here in kogi.... It's very pathetic

The local govt concept is a noble one across the globe. But here they are completely irrelevant to the public. A radical approach would be to just scrap it and damn the consequences. Believe me nobody would miss them, plus we would be saving billions of cash.

I'm trying to tie your response to my submission but I'm not fixing it, are u sure the reply is for me? Are u OK? I stated that after working for the local Council for over 25 years, the staff can't even afford a car, u can go to state ministry or federal ministry, u will see the staffs who earn as same as local government staff driving cars, but for the percentage payment melted on local government staffs, they can't comfortably feed talk more of buying a car, so who is talking about being entitle to owning a car or holidays in the Bahamas here....

not all state though, state like kaduna, Niger, kebbi, awka ibom and even rivers don't tamper with local government allocations, one will even prefer to work for the local government than States in those mentioned state as local government salary on same grade level naturally is a bit higher than state and even federal ministries.... But most states governors in other state still control who is in charge of local government so thereby taking what belongs to them, Nigerian don't protest that much as police will use that opportunity to maim and shoot canisters
