Benekruku:
Why are both making beer parlour assertions.

You make programmes that will apply across States. Different programmes per state will cause more confusion and same time set-back plan and enforcement. Its not logical when you have to enact a programme in 6 states, only to enact another law in different states when all is for same cause. This is just 1+1 of leadership and management skills.
Still not clear.

This can be negotiated with all the stakeholders. We should all agree to have one central settlement where all the herdsmen can be contained.
There's enough land in Borno, Yobe and Niger States to handle it

If you have no alternative solution why then are you objecting to the one provided? undecided
nigerians must not suffer because buhari chooses to protect the herdsmen instead of doing his job as the president in the first place. This wouldn't have been a problem if buhari had used the army to curtail the activities of these herdsmen but buhari chooses to watch them massacre nigerians because of cows and now he wants us to reward the herdsmen with our lands. Not gonna happen.
Why ask for alternative? The only way to breed cows is to have a private ranch by the owners of those cows, period.
By the way, i thought buhari said these herdsmen are from libya.

This man should be sanctioned! Is it that he does not know the meaning of SUSPENSION or he had a private meeting with Buhari and was told that the scheme has not been suspended?

Do you know how your meat is being transported to the market? Do you care to know? undecided
Caring to know is no business of the consumer, BUYING uncontaminated meat is all the consumer needs to KNOW. What business do I have with how my wares are shipped from abroad? Getting them in good shape is what matters because I have paid for all the risks encountered or anticipated in the shipping process.

I know that some land that had been earmarked for grazing in the past have now been converted into estates by the elites. These lands should have been listed to prevent folks from building on them. smiley
Developed countries do not go with the Master Plan, they plan according to the pressing needs of development. If we are to follow the original Master Plan of Nigeria, believe me, where schools are located today would probably have been used as dump sites or town halls.

Lands and buildings that have been listed cannot in the future be used for something else in 1st world countries.

That will only be possible the moment you stop buying their beef. I believe the Government can sponsor private farms or abbatoirs in improving their respective farms/ranches.
I actually can't remember when last I chew beef. In fact, govt has no business there brother. Anybody who cares to raise cows can do so just as the same way I am trying to do my own business.

But the government will only succeed to set this country on fire should it insist to foist the plan.

Fortunately I don't live in a country that does not regulate the sale and production of it's meat product. The system works well where I reside but that does not mean that I should be unconcerned with the plight of my people. cool
Ah! No wonder you practice hypocrisy with all impunity, supporting the worst form of nepotism perpetrated by the despot called buhari simply because you do not reside in Nigeria and therefore do not feel the direct impact.

I blame the respective governments that have been taking over power who have no political will to continue the good work of the likes of national statesmen who founded those cattle ranches to solve the problem we are now facing. Most of the 'elites' (the powers that be) who sponsor these Fulani herdsmen know that it is much cheaper to allow the Fulani herdsmen to be moving from one terrain to another in the forest and farmlands than to settle in those ranches or better still build new ranches. I still believe that the government should revamp those existing cattle ranches and encourage private entrepreneurs who want to use ranches in managing their livestock especially along the National Livestock Transformation Plan initiatives.

My take is that take south west for example

Let southwesterners go into cattle ranching farming.

Let south easteners do likewise.

And given adequate patronage.

The issue is taking cow from one spot to another had ever been of Good benefit for the cow themselves and the end products sales.

The question I ask from federal government is which herdsmen

The one that is destroying farmland and crops or thr one littering the environment with cow dings everywhere

That's a good idea. The Federal Government can also help to fund the States that are interested in going into Cattle ranching but the fear is that will not the funds be embezzled as usual? undecided

That is why they have to contain them in Cattle Ranches so that we can separate the criminals from the real herdsmen.

That is why all stakeholders should meet the Federal Govt at a round table to deliberate on the way forward.

This is what I discovered about the NLTP and the fact that the states were consulted and approved of this plan. My question is why can't the pastoralists and farmers be the indigenous people of the land, must it necessarily be occupied by the Fulani herdsmen? undecided

The presidency disguised the plan and put up the VP to do the homework due to his fairly acceptability to Nigerians. The Give in their shallow wisdom accepted the plan without bargaining their interest.

Then the brought up the RUGA which was the core content or sole motive of the livestock plan.

But OBJ had a clue and raised the alarm which put southerners on the look out.

What is wrong with having the natives of the land in each state making use of the plan instead of the Fulani herdsmen? The plan can still work if we use our people in their respective states to manage these initiatives.
