1. Ortom is from Zone B, same as Jime his contender. In Benue, Only Zone A and B(The Tivs) are elected governors. Zone C are minority tribes(Idomas, Igedes etc).
If Jime had won it will mean 12 years of Zone B rule. Zone A will not let that happen. They prefer he finishes his rubbish because 8 year rotation of power between Zones A and B is the norm here. And of course Zone B voted for him because he is "their brother ". Is that not a stupi.d reason?

2. In the just concluded elections, the people of Benue didn't vote along party lines. Jime's wife is Idoma( Zone C). Zone C is predominantly a PDP Zone but surprisingly APC won in all but one or two local governments either because they all knew Ortom was incompetent or Jime's wife is from zone C. Some of Zones A and B would never have it happen that their first lady is from Zone C. Sentiments came into play here, another stupi.d reason.
In conclusion, Benue politics is so complex and stupi.d to an outsider and to some extent stupi.d to us too. Benue is almost strictly a Civil service state only interested in a governor who even if he does nothing towards developing the state, should at least be able to pay workers' salaries. Ortom hid behind the Fulani crises which we all know has been a major problem donkey of years before his emergence to cover for his incompetence. He only let Nigerians know about the carnage( which is indeed a good thing) but it wasn't reason enough to leave the people in penury. Four years, no employment , no infrastructure, no salaries, just Fulani this, Fulani that, who doesn't know about Fulani in Benue? How did other governors before him handle it? With steady Federal government allocations to the state unlike before yet nothing to show. It's the reason Benue surprisingly voted Buhari again. These are our stupi.d reasons, I hope you understand?.
