The wife of a 34-year-old Nigerian PhD student, Thomas Orhions Ewansiha, has lamented the death of her husband in the Bukit Jalil detention centre earlier this week.

In a video currently circulating on the social media, the mournful wife of the deceased who was in tears, wondered why her husband would be treated in such a brutish manner to the point of death.

Obviously filled with sadness as she cried profusely, the wife said having spent all he had acquiring education to PhD level, with right papers he had acquired to justify his stay in Malaysia, her husband was still maltreated by the immigration officers who she said allowed her to die like a chicken.

Everybody is defecating and taking a piss on us because our country has been messed up so much so that everybody knows it. What's more? I think it's high time we started being realistic in this country.
If you look at the level of decay, you will understand that Nigeria is beyond redemption.
The rational ones are well aware, that's why they are running away.
Nigeria is many countries in one, making it difficult for the leaders to manage.
If vested interests wouldn't let the leaders restructure the country, separation remains the only viable solution.
Again, Nigeria is too complicated for the black man to manage.

If it were in saner climes, the ambassador to that country would be recalled n the Malaysian counterpart sent packing, until the issue is resolved amicably. Alas, Nigeria is not a country that places value on human life , so why would you expect outsiders to value lives of Nigerians in diaspora? The Nigerian diplomatic missions the world over are in a very dismal and sorry state, characterized by ineptitude or lack of empathy. I am sure the consular officials over there failed to renew his passport, Thus leading to his being arrested by the Malaysian immigration officials. I weep for Naija #SMH
