So today in my church the gospel reading was about the good Samaritan and the priest asked people to share stories about help rendered by strangers, or any person at all.
People shared heart warming stories about total strangers rendering help to them and I remembered my service year.

I was posted to Kogi state for my Youth service and I didn't know anyone there. I stayed at the catholic lodge where we were so many sharing a room and I was so uncomfortable.

fast forward to my PPA, I told one of the staff about my accommodation issues and begged him to assist because as at then we were paid 9000 naira as allawee.

He promised to get back to me and after some days he introduced me to his sister. She was married and was living in a beautiful home with her children. Her husband comes to town once in a while so most of the time she stays alone for months.
She told me she has a BQ and she was willing to give it to me at no cost shocked shocked

The boys quarters was fully furnished ooo, with a TV, bed, in fact I moved in with just my bag. wow shocked shocked
For a year and half I was offered accommodation by a total stranger whom I didn't know. She was IGALA and the purest soul you can ever meet.

Some days she feeds me oo, each time she travels she always brings food items for me and gave me free access to her house. She made me believe in humans again, especially with the kind of news back then that Nigerians can never be of help to anyone. Truly there are good samaritans. Each time I remember her, I pray for her and ask God to give me the ability to help people in their most difficult times.

Have u encountered or met total strangers who rendered help to you without expectations?

Yes!

Yesterday I was waiting for a friend, these two girls walked up to me with their tale of hunger. I bought them food and gave them some money.

On my way back I saw same girls begging another person.

I felt scammed.

I am a good Nigerian but a great Igbo.

There are good samaritans every day. When you eat with your neighbours, you are sharing. Good Samaritan is not just about helping a beggar or beggar related .

Helping a helpless and hopeless person defines it better.

Saving someone who has tyre put round his neck about to be set ablaze shows you are a good samaritan

Helping people with money in a difficult situation shows you are a good samaritan

Pushing a bus for a driver whose car went off in a traffic shows you are a good samaritan

Helping a girl with money also shows you are a samaritan, but when sex is involved, it alters your samaritanship.

Also, Fighting for Atiku to get his mandate back also shows you are a good samaritan. We all know he was cheated, so helping a depressed person also shows you are a good samaritan.

So it's not about only helping beggars.

One of the ladies who shared her experience in church said she was to travel from Lagos to the south and discovered she was robbed at the point of getting her ticket.
she said the robber tore her bag with a razor and she didn't know that all the content in her bag fell including her purse so she was stranded until someone saw her crying at the park and asked her to follow him.
He paid her fare and gave her money for food and transport fare that will take her home once she arrives her destination.

her story really touched me. people are nice when they truly want to be
