I hated going to boarding school!
It was one of the most traumatizing points of my life.
I was mad at my parents and the whole world generally.
I became an independent child really, but it made me hide in my shell all tru my life.
I was bullied a lot, until I entered the university.

But this is my story

Your child can go there and have better experiences, but I think if I had gone there in SS 1, I would have had the emotional capacity to cope.

It all depends on the child though. Assess your child, does he/she have the capacity to cope alone in the world,especially at such a young age?

They don't have good rapport with their parents.

They kinda feel distant when they come home on holidays.

Boarding school is fun... Though I went to a unity school, FGC Lagos. The advantage outnumber the disadvantage. We where disciplined, we where taught to live as one, no discrimination at all. You ward will be exposed which will be useful to him or her in the future. We where time conscious, we learn to manage the little we have,that habit was useful to me after secondary school when I found myself again in Kano during my university days. The advantage is just too many though you won't be close to your parent where you'll be pampered everyday. I'll advise parents to take their children to unity schools,there are the best.

It is the best thing for your kids but I only recommend it when your kids are seniors already. Maybe from SS1 and especially when they are about writing a certificate exam but before then, let them grow to know you as a friend, a confidant, an instructor and a parent. Be present in their life before they become semi-independent

it seems you want to breed children that would be dependent on you till they graduate. children that when their mates are hustling in university or NYSC they would be calling you to send money

In mathematics and physics boarders from my experience usually learn thoes subject during the holidays from home,
while the day students rest during the holidays, so what is the need of being a boarder if it is just to reduce parents stress it is not worth it. In today's world.
Many of our kids learn mathematics and science from home not school.

And one great advantage of been boarders is that they are more social than the day school children.

Boarders are more social? I don't agree with you. I think day students are more exposed to everyday life so they tend to be more SOCIAL in my opinion.

I can live and accommodate at anybody from different tribe or religion. It made me free minded. Myself and every member of my family went to boarding school. I remained a pure individual till today with super sharp intuition and have recorded many successes in life virtue of some of the skills I learned thru my boarding ( not just school ) experiences.



Allow me discourage you from ever sending your kids to boarding school please. I can't type much. Its something I'll never ever ever do with any of my kids

Homosexuality, lesbianism and laziness are learnt in school hostels. Send boy kids to boarding schools but girl kids should be home trained by their mums to avoid being slay queens in the future.

I strongly believe that human beings should not have children if they do not know the purpose of LIFE and Existence.

And if you know the purpose of LIFE and Existence, the young should be raised by their parents in loving, creative, educational environment devoid of external influences. That is called Home.

It is okay to vet and hire the best brains in the Mathematics, Languages, Quantum Sciences and zero Religions but Skills, Money Management and Global Economics.

Boarding Schooling is businesses and owners of those businesses have marketed it in a way that parents have forgotten the core reason of inductive learning.

If you have no chance to Educate yourself holistically on Life and Existence, it is pointless having children. Because you end up bringing Spirits into this reality and loading their blank memory chips with concocted cocktails of information that defragments their compartmentalized faculties and leave them confused.

Boarding school becomes an escape route for parents who think money can solve their laziness.

Raise your kids in love. Stop relegating your responsibilities to strangers simply because you are too lazy and think money can pay for your suspended responsibilities.

Once a child is 18. Get that child a living and residence outside the home to make mistakes and learn Independence.

18 years is not a long time to tolerate the inconveniences and raise a Soul.

starting from senior secondary is better,I went to all boys boarding school in the 90's and it was like a military camp.

The question should is are you financially inclined to send your ward to a good boarding school. Forget those pple saying cultism, stubbornness etc. There re good boarding school around where you send ur ward to and would send them over and over again. Na money kill am. Not those local govt boarding school.

I disagree. My dad was a first class top level banker who sent all his kids to the most expensive boarding schools of our days. Till today, I regret going to boarding school though there were many disadvantages. Yes it builds academia for example, I'm called spirit by my friends for m study and researching skills where I can study for 6-8hours with just snacks in front of me with little distraction. The character moulding of the experience is one of the areas I have issues with. The formative years of an individuals character is very important and this is where damage is done more than oft. There's a lot more demerits time won't permit me to share.

I agree. There's this grit that exboarders can survive even a nuclear holocaust. That terrible confidence to stare death even in the eyes.
