A man who believed he was [/b]"God's special servant with a special destiny" will avoid trial for attempting to stab his stepmother to death after a judge ruled he was suffering from a mental illness.[b]
Mark Andrew Rawson, 20, originally faced one charge of attempting to murder his stepmother and two charges of assault with a weapon after attacking his father using a stick at his Rotorua home on July 2 last year.
In a High Court decision from Justice Kit Toogood, he cited three psychiatrist reports into Rawson's mental state, noting [/b]"his behaviour was greatly influenced by his illness as he had the delusional conviction that God possessed his body and ordered him to assault his father and stepmother, which he was not able to resist"[b]........................
