So I'm a teacher in a private school, we are holding an angel and mortal event where you pick a name and buy gift for the person whom you picked. This female colleague is a married Yoruba lady, she has a newly born baby, she is someone who I respect a lot. She should be in her mid thirties and the gift I intended on buying for her is within the range of a limited budget of 500naira to 1000naira. What type of gift do you recommend?

You can get her baby a nice set of baby cream, soap and oil, you can send credit to her phone worth the amount or just buy her lunch

To your question, buy her a perfume or body spray... Most married women don't use bodyspray or perfume. Not because they can't afford it, but, they always forget buying one after planning so much to get one when shopping.
There is a perfume called Embrace I think it cost just #700. And it smells nice

Do not buy anything that may be considered intimate. She is married and she works with you. Don't let unnecessary gossips fester.
Buy a very good toy for the baby. With that amount go to any mini sou shop in Lagos ( that is if you stay in Lagos) you will get good quality toys there. Or go to pep and get baby cloths.
Do not get anything intimate except you get another agenda. And if you don't find anything lasting buy diapers
