He is free to find someone else to date from his own country where a visa will not be an issue. He cannot expect to use a visit visa to "date". That's not what it was meant for. If their relationship is serious then they should get a K1 visa, if not, let them find other people to date.
Don't be so hard on yourself and other Nigerians seeking visit visa. Visit visa can be used to go visit one's fiance as long as he or she intends to return to Nigeria after the visit. Below are things that can be done on a visit visa:

a. Tourism
b. Vacation (holiday)
c. Visit with friends or relatives
d. Medical treatment
e. Participation in social events hosted by fraternal, social, or service organizations
f. Participation by amateurs in musical, sports, or similar events or contests, if not being paid for participating
g. Enrollment in a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree (for example, a two-day cooking class while on vacation)
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html

Option a, b, c and e are activities that are done during "dating". So I wonder why you say two people who are in love can't "date" in the US.

I believe they can "date" as long as the Nigerian can prove that (s)he has no immigration intent. It's the same kind of proof that someone whose relative (mum, dad, siblings, etc) is based in the US is required to provide in his/her visit visa application. Nothing different.

Calling someone Fiance is different from boyfriend and girlfriend.

A Fiance is a relative going by US Embassy definition. It's different from boyfriend and girlfriend I agree. It's in the same category as parents and siblings. I've seen people whose siblings and/or parents are USC and yet got their B1/B2 visa approved. Same should be for Fiance.

most time the partner living in U.S will visit Nigeria and do traditional/court wedding in Nigeria before applying for K1 visa.
I don't understand your point here. And by the way, anyone who does traditional or court wedding in Nigeria isn't eligible for K1 Visa. He or she should rather apply for Spousal Visa (CR1)

True and that was an oversight but most time they advise most applicant to apply for K1 visa.

Yeah, and that is wrong in my opinion. Very soon they will also be advising B2 applicant whose parents or siblings are based in the US to apply for F2 Visa.

Through Student visa. I remember her from the student visa thread.

Make sure your mom is more prepared during her next visa interview.

Since she's already been interviewed before that should have given your mom a broad idea of the kind of questions the US VO's might ask again and especially what she presents as her strong ties back to Nigeria.

That was a case specific scenario. It was an option given to her because of limited B1/B2 issuance. The officer was being helpful.

I really hope it was case specific. It will be sad if every applicant who has a USC fiance is denied a B2 visa.

Do you even know anything about visit visa?

I've seen who applied for US visit visa and the main purpose of the trip is to visit her boyfriend, the invitee clearly wrote it on the invitation letter that he will be responsible for the expenses, thou the lady has a very good tie and travel history.......

Pls stop misleading people, you can apply for a visiting visa to meet your boyfriend /girlfriend....

Why will u apply for k1 visa when u are not even fully ready to marry
Lol, apply for a tourist visa and see 90% rejected if they have family, friends, fiance(e) in US. All CO sees is you have somebody in US to help you to stay and overstay and maybe to fix your status being already there. Go and try. All I say how our embassy works.

Do you wanna meet your BF or GF, go to Nigeria and meet there or Barbados, etc. as many Nigerians do.

But you are welcome to apply and to waste your money in our embassy. Thank you very much for attacking me.

Not every, few are lucky, very few. The majority is denied.

Well that's an option for them. But K1 visa isn't an option for them since they are still dating.

For the VO to deny the visit visa and suggest K1 visa he is "forcing" them to marry. He shouldn't have suggested K1 visa to him or her.

And to the bolded, its not okay to use the K1 visa with the intent of staying in the US for 90 days without getting married and then return back to Nigeria. That will be seen an abuse of the K1 visa and could affect his chances of ever getting any other visa in the States.
Lol, I am so sorry he didn't ask you before what he SHOULDN'T do. He does what he wants and what is our law. Are you a US Senator or Congressman for to have the authority to complain or to dictate what our embassy employees should or shouldn't do in his/her job? Our stuff is very professional and very well trained. It's NOT your business to tell them how to do their work.

I see you are now changing the premise of your argument. We all knew before now that having a relative in the States is a minus in B1/B2 visa application just as we know that being single is also a minus. But if the applicant can adequately prove that he or she has sufficient ties to Nigeria, (s)he will be granted the visa regardless of whether he or she is single or has a fiancee in the States.

Having a fiancee in the States shouldn't be an automatic denial. Thats my argument. I'm also of the view that telling all B2 applicants who has a USC fiancee that he or she should rather apply for K1 visa is very wrong. This may not apply in some cases.

Now let me paint a scenario and seek your advice. Imagine a well travelled guy who has been to the States on vacation several times and for business over the past 5 years. In his penultimate visit, he happened to meet this very beautiful girl with whom he started off a relationship with and proposed in his last visit to the States. Now his visa is expired and he wants to renew so that he can visit his heartthrob and He intends telling the VO the truth when he goes for his visa interview. They don't plan to get married yet. Do you recommend he be granted the B1/B2 visa?

What should be and how it's done, denied or not and if CO just took the decision to deny before the interview IT IS NOT YOUR BUSINESS. Go and tell you wife what should be or not. CO has the decision and if he/she didn't sleep well or tired, he/she denies because he has this POWER. And NO foreigners's opinion how to do our law and how to manages our visas. Go and give your order in your kitchen. grin
Who cares what you want in our embassy? Apply, pay, wait in line and be polite and we will see if we want to open our house door for you. Keep saying our COs should do this or shouldn't do that, you will be denied just for talking crap and being a trouble maker. Enjoy.

Maybe to you. Nigerian English mostly is very bad. How many Americans did you meet and from how many states, races and nationalities? Do you know we have many communities who only speak their native language, people from Europe, Latin America, China, etc. and they don't speak any English. We have many government services in Spanish and Russian. Learn a little about America or come here and see me face to face and we will see how bad is your pidgin accent. Lol!

LOOOOOL! Thank you very much. Maybe you will be interviewed by a guy like me, because it is how it is.

You know, here in America we always say, many colors and races are coming here, you can pretend being important or whatever you are.
In America you mean NOTHING, learn American way or lose it. Here is no egusi man, we mix in our melting pot all egusi, borsh, tacos and pekin ducks in one pot with a very big American steak, then we pass all of you through the grinder and make from all of you a nice AMERICAN hamburger OUR WAY. You will suffer and not enjoy the process but it is what it is, we don't beg you coming here, you do. You ask for it, you will get it, if you are lucky. Ha-ha-ha!!!

Hello Seyewest and co. I recently renewed my Nigerian passport but my USA visa is in my expired passport. Although they cancelled without prejudice the remaining pages in the old one, I told them to leave out the valid visas which they did.
My question is: how can I enter the USA? Do I send my new passport to the American embassy to seal another visa? Or do I travel with both passports?
Anyone experienced this before?

My brother it is "cancelled without prejudice" not just cancelled or with prejudice. Cancellation of the old passport ain't got nothing to do with the visa. Its not even about you telling them to leave out the valid visa because they would definitely leave it before since its still valid. So simply use rubber band to band both the old and new passport together for your travels. Please don't start trying to explain to any immigration officer that your passport was cancelled without prejudice and you have a valid visa because this matter is a normal occurrence and nothing odd about it.
