Herdsmen Attack : Osinbajo Visits Yoruba Monarchs, Reveals Next Move

By Wisdom Nwedene

Following alleged Herdsmen attack in different parts of South West of Nigeria, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday held consultations with the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, as well as other monarchs in Ogun State, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Osinbajo was accompanied to the palace of Ajayi by Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.

The vice president, who fielded questions from newsmen after the meeting, said the meeting was on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“As you know, there are many significant security concerns all over the country, and there are concerns also in the Southwest.

“So, I am here on the instruction of the president to consult with the traditional ruler, the governor and others on what to do to beef up security and to generally improve the security architecture.

“Of course, you know that Kabiyesi is not just a traditional ruler, but a very important part of the government.

“That is why we are here; to talk to him and agree on few modalities for beefing up security; and ensuring that we are fully conscious of all that is going on, just to be sure that peace and security reigns here and across the country.

“I think for all of us, the most important thing to realise is that we are one Nigeria; we are one country; we need to work together to ensure that it is peaceful, secured and happy for all of us,’’ he said.

He noted that Nigeria had the potential to give its citizens all they desired.

Osinbajo, however, said that some people were working against the interest of the country by trying to cause instability.

He expressed optimism that by God’s grace, Nigeria would overcome all its problems and set itself on the path of peace and prosperity.

How Osinbajo managed to make it to SAN never ceases to amaze me.

This guy is the quintessential dumbest lawyer creation has witnessed.

Its too clear to see how even an uneducated cattle rearer outsmarts him by leagues.

I read this statement and its indicative of a very flawed posturing to handle the issue. " I'm here on the orders of the president" implying who has the upper hand here.

Pre2015 elections, many people of Osinbajos tribe were off the opinion " This was our government and we have our representation " Implying a two way pipeline between the tribe to the central government and then, the reverse way, the central government to the tribe.

Now, in a scenario where the tribe of the VP is maltreated, the current posturing should be the monarchs summoned Osinbajo to do explaining, the loud voices should say Osinbaj9 come home and explain yourself... Further implying the Ooni's move to Abuja to me personally wasn't the cleverest of move to make.

The Ooni bowing to shake an erect-postured president also tells another tale, the Ooni saying even at the face of the death of a notable chieftain our people don't want war,but rather an assertive, yet diplomatic tactic would have been employed where even the Ooni shouldn't make the visit, another mis understanding of how to balance power dynamics. Even Baba Kumuyi went, he bowed, why are people so Needlessly servile

Gani Adams almost confused me as the leader and the authority of his clan who spoke wisely, acted decisively and employed the proper channel to vent unlike the other assumably more intelligent others.

Osinbajo should rather employ move as my people, or we the Yoruba nation, or the monarchs of the Yoruba kingdom....Posturing and power dynamics matter. These guys just don't get it.

Gani Adams Twale baba. Afeniferi, you always have my greatest respect and salute. To baba Fasoronti, baba, only God Sir, i be always held you in high esteem like Pa Adebanjo. Men who spoke the truth without fear of person. My fellow Yoruba progressives, twale.

Now peace is an illusion at times, unless there's a balance of terror, peace becomes more illusionary.

As for Tinubu, he has completely run mad from his madness grin Yes, I said it. Wonder where the likes of Remix Tinubu, Tunde Fashola, Lai Mohammed, Rotimi Amaechi, Audi Ogbeh, Adams Oshiomole, Rauf Argebe and co are. Bunch of knuckleheads. Shebi they could talk before, they need to talk now. And the vision seers, One at South East, some along an express road, another at Ikeja axis that runs a program on channels and wears glasses. grin

I repeat, for peace to reign, THERE HAS TO BE A BALANCE OF TERROR..

Now Mynd44 OAM4J, do the needful please.

I love VP Osinbajo but I think his education and western ideology is a block on his ability to manage ethnic challenge.

Situations like this are not taught in textbooks or in law school. We are not a Western society. We are Africans and issues of native discord require native sense to guide proper disposition.

I was waiting and watching to see how Preaidency would respond to Ooni's visit, twice in one week....one to President, second to VP.

I hope this visit by VP is unrelated to the tasks given to them by Ooni. If it is both President and his VP bungled their roles.

Akarigbo is a retired Army Officer. If Buhari was choosing him as point of contact for issues they both scre.wwed up.

Again, Im going to wait on side, too early to react...I want to see how President and VP will honor Ooni's visit. This visit to Akarigbo cant be it.

I am a VORACIOUS CONSUMER of international news. I do every minute. From France to Hong Kong; from Liberia to South Africa; from Greece to Peru; from Ethiopia to Iraq (yes, Iraq), I see POPULARLY ELECTED leaders facing SERIOUS PROTESTS from SAME people who elected them a couple of years before. The leader of Hong Kong, Carrie Lam, is facing a battle of her life over proposed extradition laws which the parliament had hurriedly withdrawn. Emmanuel Macron was nearly done in by the Yellow Vest protesters. In Liberia, Weah is facing tough battle from same young Liberians that elected him. The South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, was on Friday indicted by the state financial investigation body. Same people who once venerated President Bouteflika of Algeria later asked for his head. I can go on. Here in Nigeria, some IDIOTS (no apologies for that word) believe that since you voted for a President four years ago, it is your sacred duty to keep defending nonsense and inanities. Even if the country is being torn into pieces under their man, it does NOT matter. Theirs is to put forward arguments even a five year-old should not put forward. You listen to them and you feel like slapping them. Bunch of low minds...

Your ooni did not respect himself. The yoruba nation is far older than Nigeria, It is buhari who is supposed to pay the ooni a visit to appease the yorubas for the death of fasorantis daughter.

Not one single fulani man has paid the yorubas a visit.

You people should observe how the oba of bini carries himself.

Even if buhari visits the oba of bini, he can decide not to come out of Chambers to see buhari.

I know this might upset you, but I think Your ooni doesn't behave like a monarch with class.
