Do you live in Abuja (Not Marrabah and Masaka)? if yes you can leave around 6am, you will get to the embassy before 7:15am no matter where you're coming from.

Lagos

How do I locate the car park in Lagos?
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Saskbound: 7:50pm On Jul 21, 2019
Do you live in Abuja? There’s a car park & its free, besides 4am is too early. You leave home at 6:30-7am, everyone gets in at the same time once the embassy opens (7:30), even if your appointment is for 9am, as long as you have an appointment.

PS: Not sure how it works in Lagos if you live there.

Hello house,
Can anyone advise if there's a car park around US embassy where I can park my car early in the morning?
I'm thinking of leaving my house 4am and d chances of getting uber by that time is quite slim.
Thanks

As soon as you turn into Walter Carrington, you'd pass a serviced apartment (Think The Residence), just slow down and look at the next properties to the right... You can't miss them.

You can if you are lucky and even get the job visa too. It's not easy but it happens.

Hi,
My issue is quite complex. I have an important conference to attend at the University of Virginia, USA from June 17-21, 2019. However the nearest available interview appointment time in Nigeria is August 22, 2019. I requested for an expedited interview process and was denied. However, I will be travelling to Japan on a tourist visa from May 23-June 7, 2019:

1) Can I schedule my visa interview at the US Embassy in Tokyo instead (their nearest available date is April 18, 2019)?

2) Can I cancel my previous appointment (the one I created just so I can activate the Request an Expedited interview button) on my US Embassy in Nigeria portal and use the same MRV receipt number to schedule an interview in Tokyo during my visit dates (I have to create a new account on the Embassy in Japan's website)?

3) Can I use thesame Ds-160 form that I previously used to apply for a US visa in Nigeria to schedule my new interview date in Tokyo?

4) Does my visiting Japan on a tourist visa affect my interview decision?

Thanks in advance!

What's your interview transcript please??

Guys . My uncle has a challenge . He's a very frequent traveller , he has been to almost all continents courtesy his activeness as a Rotarian.
Him, his wife and two children age 17 and 19 respectively got thier visit visa in 2017 and when they went. The children stayed back and changed thier status to student status .

Parents passport got lost due to theft and the father and mother went for interview just this morning and were refused.

In the transcript of the interview , my uncle (father) said he perceived that the reason for thier refusal was because the kids changed thier status during thier visit because that was the major question asked by the VO

And they were given a pink paper which state that they haven't shown enough home ties according to Section 214(b) of US immgration and Nationality Act. Which I think is generic.

Pls, if this is true ,how can it be tackled .

Are you very sure both passports got lost at the same time?

Is this not a cooked up story by your uncle......

It will takes a grace to get another US visa cos the VO doubt if the their passport is truly lost and plus visa misused by children.

Visa misuse by the children and BOTH. Who is supporting them? It is clear parents took their children to the states and paid for the student visa as well for their stay, rent, food, it was planned. Parents will not have a tourist visa approved, maybe only after years or never. Adult children can visit their parents and apply for their parents immigration when they are eligible.

Supported. The problem is with the visa misuse mainly I think, hardly about the missing passports. Agreed that people adjust status from the B visas, there will always be consequences, whether to F1 or via marriage oh, a day of reckoning beckons.

What am trying to say is that adjustments of status from B1/B2 to F1 is legal. The refusal shouldn’t be because of the adjustments of status.

Why please? I understand you have been researching though. Is adjusting status through marriage illegal?

Yes, it's a very common refusal, marry on B1/B2 or change status from it, it is all legal but then no family or friends can visit for a long time and even the parents legal immigration could take longer than normal in the future.

I never said through marriage! @kishkosh uncle’s children adjusted to F1 not marriage .

I believe I never said you said so too. That was put in for the purpose of understanding. That is to point the obvious to you, that that particular form of adjustment is legal just like the one you are "teaching" us is legal too, and that you may likely agree with me that despite the legality, they have consequences right in front....

That's not fair because the K1 visa forces them to get married within 3 months. Some people date for years before getting married. K1 visa won't be ideal for such people as it will not allow them date for years. The ideal visa for them will be the visit visa until such a time they are ready to take the next step which will then involve getting the K1 Visa.

But you didn’t read the persons response she responded to..busybody cheesy
123JohnF:

If they wish to date longer, CO will tell them to see each other in another country or the America citizen moving to live abroad for to be close to his/her date. It is not obligatory to date on US territory. The couple is free to date, so many countries with no visa problem, to live together for years, marry when you want, nobody is forcing you to marry. K1 visa is not forcing, it is the visa for people who already decided to marry and to live in America. Also, you can come on K1 visa, stay 90 days and not marry, going back to your country.

Who is forcing you to marry?

TWoods:

He is free to find someone else to date from his own country where a visa will not be an issue. He cannot expect to use a visit visa to "date". That's not what it was meant for. If their relationship is serious then they should get a K1 visa, if not, let them find other people to date.

Obinoscopy:
Don't be so hard on yourself and other Nigerians seeking visit visa. Visit visa can be used to go visit one's fiance as long as he or she intends to return to Nigeria after the visit. Below are things that can be done on a visit visa:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html

Option a, b, c and e are activities that are done during "dating". So I wonder why you say two people who are in love can't "date" in the US.

I believe they can "date" as long as the Nigerian can prove that (s)he has no immigration intent. It's the same kind of proof that someone whose relative (mum, dad, siblings, etc) is based in the US is required to provide in his/her visit visa application. Nothing different.
