Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information at the weekend said he is excited by the crop of people chosen by President Muhammadu Buhari as cabinet members in his second term. The President earlier this week sent a 43-man ministerial list to the Senate for screening with 14 of them as Ministers in his first term Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Momoh, one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said President Buhari has fulfilled his promise to select only those he knows very well as members of his cabinet. Momoh said he believed the nominees will perform wonders and assist the President in achieving his goals in his second term. “I have been celebrating since the list came out. Having been with Buhari since 2003, I have no doubt that these nominees will perform wonders”. ” He has carefully chosen the best set of people who will help in driving the Next Level agenda. These are people he knows since 2003″. ” I can assure you that all these nominees are so dedicated and they know what Buhari’s vision is and can promote it and be the driving force behind it. dlondonbadboy:Would Buhari be the first President to forward ministerial nominees to Senate without including portfolio? The way your lots present this issue, one would think Buhari has done the unthinkable. Obasanjo, Yar'Adua, Jonathan never did. Apart from El'Rufai, no single state governor has ever forwarded commissioners nominees to their respective state houses of assembly with their portfolio included. I'm totally against this trend and I insist NASS should make law to correct this anomaly, as it does not give room for proper screening and at the end of the day, round pegs are put in square holes. 2 Likes |
