I was in the Bendigo Suite and standing looking over the race course, I was able to see a glimpse of famous London Eye. Beautiful and lush scenery. I also observed that over head was the final approach path for incoming flights into Heathrow. Watching planes fly is one of my favourite pastime and imagine my joy when I saw this. Planes came in virtually every minute. As one is landing, another is prepping to land throughout the day and even saw couple of simultaneous landings. Twas a beauty to behold o |

Abini2012:I just stumble on this thread on Saturday and believe me, I really enjoyed it. Please can you help me to answer this question because it'll really help me. How long does it take you to get the care job and is it a part time or full time. Thanks |
| Re: Adventure Of A UK Tier 4 Dependant by Abini2012(op): 6:50pm On Jul 28, 2019 |
Phayie:Fortunately, the agency my husband works with had manual training the following week, after I arrived. After that, I was directed to do the online training, which I did. They ran my DBS(check criminal record). Got first job a week or so later. All together 3-4 weeks I've also registered with other care agencies. I select the shifts and days that suits me, so that could be said to be part time |

This is another racecourse at a village called Market Rasen around Lincolnshire, travelled about 2hrs to get here and the yeye agency no pay for our time ![]() Based on my experience with the first racecourse, I respected myself and dropped my phone to till the end of my shift. Quite a contrast with the first racecourse because this was more family oriented. Families with kids, grandparents, dogs. They came with their food and drinks and I was like shuuoo, who come buy the drinks wey we dey sell na ![]()

I was allocated this outside bar to work but along the line, I was relocated to one of the inner bars as the crowd there was overwhelming and staff short.. I immediately learn to mix drinks on the job. From pouring draft in pints to mixing gin and tonic, to mixing shandy, and also learnt assorted names of drink like Rekorderlig, Doombar, Staropramen, etc.. My knowledge of learning to work the Till at Ricoh came into play *whew* Bar where all the action took place. Carling- draft, beer.. Stowford- Cider, Guinness , I for taste am see whether e dey like our own stout .. in between plenty mix mix behind Where all the drinks come up, the science behind it

The atmosphere at this racecourse was little bit relaxed, fortunately another shift came 2 weeks later at the same venue, for event called Ladies Day. The day came and I was expecting all female show but whosai men were even more than the women .It was more of a formal event than the previous one, although few rebels still came out in informal wears ![]() When you work in Care and see how some of these guys are in their old age, you will understand and appreciate why they enjoy the good life and go all out to achieve whatever they want in their prime. I'll be back |

@Abini, I am thrilled with your thread. In your Tier 4 Dependent visa application, what evidence did u furnish for your husband's accommodation? |
| Re: Adventure Of A UK Tier 4 Dependant by Abini2012(op): 2:51am On Jul 29, 2019 |
jeito1:I wrote the name of his sub-landlord and address in the application. Didn't attach anything apart from his school documents. I attached our rent receipts in Nigeria |

@Abini2012 I thought care job is more like taking care of old people and small children I never knew is more like this |
| Re: Adventure Of A UK Tier 4 Dependant by Abini2012(op): 5:22pm On Jul 29, 2019*. Modified: 12:10pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
Phayie:Yes, it's taking care of old people generally speaking, but there are different types of care homes that cater to people with different needs, especially medical needs. They are people with dementia, mental, restrictive movement, rehabilitation, too many to mention. Some homes have different wings or floors to cater to this different needs. Some residents needs carers to do one to one with them. Some of your clients you go to their houses to help cater for them in terms of cleaning, shopping or running other errands. I've done one to one with one man with dementia who won't sit down for more than 1 minute. He was always on his feet, moving round the whole home. You have to be with him through out because he can hurt himself or fall. He kept me on my feet from 8am to 8pm! Where he got the strength from only God knows ![]() It can be very challenging( some care homes, residents and their staff will make your shift hell) but I try to put on a positive mindset when leaving the house, but it is also rewarding in a way. I've met a former MI6 operative! She rose to the rank of a Director before retirement. Regaled me with tales of her operations in different Countries all through the night! Expo: Night shift! Less stressful, you can have rest in between checks and time tends to run fast at night ![]() |

budaatum:Walai bro. I know this is part of their culture but to see it up close is amazing. Be it football, Horse racing, Rugby, Cricket, etc. The beauty of it is how they groom their kids to follow suit by taking them to such events and explaining the concept of what's going on to them. |

Abini2012:I think I'm kind of scare of the care job. I read somewhere where a guy said the place he was posted to on his first day was a man that has a kind of contacgeios disease but his team doesn't reveal it to him until he later find out himself. I think I prefer your type of care job than being care for an old people |

Nice work Abini What document did you submit as evidence of Accommodation during your Tier 4 Visa application? Can you also furnish me with the status of the accommodation I.e A single room or 1 bedroom flat? |
| Re: Adventure Of A UK Tier 4 Dependant by Abini2012(op): 8:31pm On Jul 29, 2019*. Modified: 9:02pm On Jul 29, 2019 |
jeito1:I submitted rent receipts of our Nigerian accommodation. For UK accommodation, he is sharing a 3 bedroom with a family. I wrote the name of his Landlord and the address, where it was asked for in the application form. Didn't submit any other thing accomodation wise. Once the Student is genuine with docs and you have the mandatory documents and can prove genuine relationship(supporting docs), you are good to go The Nigerian rent receipts is part of showing genuine relationship that's all. Plus other docs |

Phayie:That was very remiss of them not to pass on that information. Before going to a resident's room, you have to put on gloves, especially when helping them with personal care. Also, there are nylon aprons to use when changing their pads even during personal care if you would wish, and when feeding them. Even with all that precautions, I thoroughly wash my hands after each room visit and keep work clothes separate from other dirty laundry. Care job is the easiest job to do here. Our People plenti for the job. 50yr, 60yr old carers been doing it for years. Some finish Uni and stay back to do Care, some do as side hustle. Here, no job is looked down upon! If you don't do it, who will? |

Phayie:In addition, I might be wrong but I don't think someone with contagious disease will be left just like that in a care home, where almost all the residents are vulnerable to contacting the disease because of their own medical conditions which might make them have low immune system. In any case, such a home can be reported to CQC, the office in charge of monitoring Care homes to ensure that best practices are carried out. They randomly visit homes without notice, or when investigating a complaint etc While taking care of others health, it is mandatory that your own health is also taken care of Eg all residents' beds are remote controlled to adjust the height of the bed, raise the head or legs etc. So if the resident is in bed and asleep, you lower it to the lowest level, but when you go in to attend to them, you are expected to raise the bed to your waist level or what you are comfortable with, without having to bend too low to attend to the person in bed and thereby injuring your waist or spine Some care homes are operating under the radar sha but when found out they either pay huge fines or are shut down |
