I wonder how some people think, how illogical their thought processes are. You mustn't comment on every post, you know.

In the post, Casper said he wishes he was a Nigerian for the way we promote local content on our radio stations, TV stations, etc. He didn't say he wish he was a Nigerian for other things the country and its citizens are known for.

Most Nigerian artistes are, of course, talented. Still, it is not just talents that made Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, etc international stars. Part of their achievements and growth came from the unity in our music industry, and this is the reason Casper said he wish he was a Nigerian, none other. Casper doesn't wish to live in Nigeria or become a Nigerian for other reasons. Ode!

Lol. Southafricans have natural envy for Nigerians. I can't wait for Nigeria to take its right position in the world so we can deny every single south african visa.
We don't have to behave as they do. If we allow them to drag us down to their level we gain nothing.

All our jealous African 'rivals' keep getting it all wrong.
Nigerians I know are not so enthusiastic about consuming only made in Nigeria products, especially because some local products have less quality than foreign brands.

But for Nigerian music, the quality has been consistently superb in the last 20 years thereabouts that we don't even have time to look outside.

Meanwhile, SA musicians will be copying American style, Ghana will be copying Nigerian style to a large extent, while Kenyan artistes don't even have talent at all, yet they expect us to listen to their craps.
IronGalaxy XhosaNostra, another bitter true confession for you guys to swallow. wink

Stop talking nonsense. Do you know how many music genres we have in South Africa? You have rappers in your country too, why aren't you making noise about them doing a music style from abroad? South Africa is known for two genres, House music & Kwaito. The later is our own creation (which is now done all over SADC), so I'm not sure how we're copying anyone when even you dabble in different genres of music.

South african popular rapper Cassper Nyovest wished to be a nigerian after hailing nigerian musicians and our oaps, radio and televisions stations for promoting 90% of nigerian artist songs on their channel unlike other countries. Is this true about us??

Left to those two we would have been churning out artistes like the Remedies...the only good thing out of those two was instigating the split up of the plantation boiz.

Yes...he wishes to be Nigerian because Nigeria music industry is busy promoting artiste in which their song doesn't add any value to the society. Casper is only envy of so-called Nigerian artiste as they are flourishing. In South Africa, do you think there is an opportunity to promote you if what you are singing adds no value to the society at large.

XhosaNostra, my good friend, disagrees.
All I can say is, that's his own perspective based on his personal interactions & knowledge. Personally, I don't know much about the Nigerian music industry, to know how it works, but he's worked with them so I'm sure that's how he reached that conclusion. Only the cultural aspect & celebration of homebrewed stuff I'd have to disagree with him on. Because even Nigerians consider "local" an insult grin

Your point just nullified itself with the 'Ignorant'...they had a platform 'PrimeTime Africa' that tried to compete with with Channel O Dem no promote nobody. So the foreign songs they were hyping were also being helped by them?

Don't start your day being this shortsighted.

Can you just specify one out of the artistes that our music industries are promoting, whose songs have added value to the youths? If not to demoralized our youth

I don't think he's envious because he's doing well in his own career & has major support at home. He fills up stadiums after all. However, South Africa is not a Hip Hop loving country. We love House music. Our own music awards revolve around House, so I can see how the likes of him would, perhaps, feel a bit unappreciated. Personally, I don't like his songs or AKA's lol.

You cant see any of these noisy artists on my playlists. My eardrum is more important to me than any foolish songs. I'm ambassador of good songs. I cherish good lyrics alot.

You need to work on your comprehension. He said he wished to be a nigerian musician not based or live in the country. Those that have left the country have they stopped being Nigerians?
